In Turkey, created an easy ATGM for special operations forces

Turkish gunsmiths from the Roketsan company announced the creation of the newest promising lightweight portable short-range anti-tank missile system, called "Karaok", the bmpd blog reports citing the magazine "Jane's Missiles & Rockets".

In Turkey, created an easy ATGM for special operations forces

As the newspaper writes, the development of a light Karakta anti-tank missile system with a short-range "Karaok" company was commissioned by the Turkish Ministry of Defense. It is assumed that this anti-tank complex was created primarily in the interests of the Turkish special operations forces. The company does not disclose general data on the new complex; only a few data has appeared in the press. At the moment, it is known that the complex’s rocket has a caliber of 125 mm and a length of 1100 mm, equipped with a two-stage solid-fuel engine and a tandem shaped-charge warhead. The mass of the missile is not disclosed, just as the mass of its warhead is not known. The weight of the launcher with a missile and guidance system is declared as "less than 25 kg." The stated shooting range is “over 1000 meters”. There is a possibility of shooting from closed positions.

The rocket is equipped with a thermal imaging seeker of the Imaging Infrared (IIR) type in combination with an inertial unit. The new ATGM operates in the “fired and forgotten” mode, a target can be captured by a rocket both before launch and after. Destruction of the target occurs along the line of sight or from above.

The Americans believe that we are ahead of the rest, including anti-tank systems.
But the Turks produce weapons independent of the United States.

If you delve into it, it’s not so independent ... But they move correctly and develop their production.

The Turks seem to have followed the plagiarism-path of the Chinese, there is no copying of other people's developments and obstacles to this.

Such an interesting clipping turns out to be the production of modern long-range air defense systems not a costly topic at all?

And what is easier than taking an already good finished product, and then upgrading and improving it to your needs by changing the name. But plagiarism or theft - you sweat to prove. And the costs are really minimal.

But we are talking about the sale of the finished product, and not about the sale of technology. To improve it, you just need to master the technology of production of the initial product, which is hundreds of millions and years

So the Turks are bargaining on the condition of the transfer of technology, because the S-400 is still not in the hands of the askers. In addition, the Turks are blackmailing our traders, saying that if you don’t sell the technology, we will buy "patriots" from the United States. Oriental merchant mentality. Copying a finished product is expensive and time-consuming.

ATGM with IR or any other GOS has a lot of shortcomings, which is why many countries have ATGMs that are controlled by wire or laser channel. One of the options to get around the shortcomings of the ATGM with IR GOS was made by the Israelis in Spike using a television guidance channel - which makes it possible to target any, not just heat-contrasting targets.
The main thing that remains on the story is the cost of the rocket and the complex itself - the most deshmans, naturally controlled by wire.

Mdaaa! Something "everyone fell for" the development of "small-caliber" lightweight (portable and even wearable ...) ATGMs of the 3rd generation! Israel, China, the United States, now Turkey ... Russia also has portable ATGMs, but, "by tradition," 2 generations.

        But how small is it?

Well ... everything in the world is comparative and relative! For example, the first ATGMs developed in the USSR had "weighty" calibers: 140,160, 170,200,220 muimeters! Then there was a period of some "reduction" in the "calibers" (diameters) of anti-tank missiles both in the USSR and "abroad": 100,120,125,135 ... 103,116 mm. Now, in my opinion, there is a tendency towards an increase in the "calibers" (diameters) AT missiles. "Cornet", "Chrysanthemum" -152 mm; TOW-152 mm, "Hellfire" -178 mm (and other US missiles), MMP-140 mm, "Spikes" -up to 170 mm, Red Arrow 12 - presumably 170 mm ... Against this "background" and 125 mm will seem "easy"! But actually, when I wrote about "small caliber". I "remembered" and 60-mm "Xu Jian", and 75-mm "Mini-Spike", and 86-mm KFK ... request

In general, it’s simple and tasteful, but the distance of 1000 m is really bad, very normal. The guidance system of two components, the defeat of the target not only in a straight line. If everything works smoothly, then this little thing, at an inexpensive price, will be a competitor to many. True, we do not know the warhead, but even if they did, it is difficult to judge without a practical indicator.

"not allowed". In the absence thereof. None of the Russian ATGMs allows the rocket to make a hill, and they all bluntly hit in the forehead, and not in the roof, and, accordingly, they need more armor penetration.

Zaur, the cumulative part, is such a diverse assortment and how it is executed by them, only practice will show. Even if they upload pictures from the landfill, with a tank and a hole in the barrel, or on top of the tower (for some reason I doubt it does not grow together) - this does not mean anything. The best expert is a participant in the fighting, they now have where to check.

They don’t have plagiarism, but just a rough copy, and Turks have plagiarism :) Seriously, there is a very important point here. The Turks finally learned how to make not only materials and details, but learned how to program (yazilim), learned how to create their own (yerli ) a block of programs will be introduced into military units, from missiles of various stripes to drones, helicopters, etc. This means that Turkey has its own (Milli) very many highly qualified specialists, this means that they have already entered the elite club of creators armaments. Because the pace of the military-industrial complex and the creation of high-class weapons will only determine financing ..
