The large landing craft (BDK) of the Pyotr Morgunov project of the 11711 project will begin testing complex no later than March of next year, and in June it will be released on factory running trials, said the general director of the Baltic Yantar Shipbuilding Plant Eduimov, the factory newspaper Vperyd reported.

BDK "Peter Morgunov" will be tested in March 2019

In particular, the CEO stated that the readiness of the 11711 project under construction at the Yantar Baltic CVD Yantar in Kaliningrad is high. On January 2019 of the year, the crew of the ship will be settled, the beginning of the tests will begin in February-March, in order to begin the factory trials in June. In early November of this year, power was supplied to the ship from the shore, and regular lighting and a nasal power station began to work.

BDK "Peter Morgunov" is the second ship of the project 11711 and the first serial after the head BDK "Ivan Gren." This series of BDK project 11711 will be limited to only two ships instead of the planned construction of six. BDK is currently in the process of being completed after launching at the end of May this year. Earlier it was reported about the plans of the CVD "Yantar" to transfer the BDK to the Russian Navy four years after its founding, which took place in the 2015 year.

BDK 11711 is the latest development of Project 1171, according to which in 1960-1970 the Yantar Shipyard built a series of 14 ships. The ship can accommodate 13 tanks or more than 30 armored personnel carriers and infantry fighting vehicles. The BKD also provides for the deployment of a reinforced battalion of the Marine Corps, as well as the temporary deployment of various types of ship helicopters. The ship has a cruising range of 4 thousand nautical miles, which allows you to perform tasks in the far sea zone.

      Or Libyan?

Not only .... But also for potential Russian bases in Sudan, Eritrea, Somalia, on the island of Socotra

      and plus
Currently, discussions are continuing on the prospects for the restoration of the air base in Egypt - in Sidi Barrani. Already in the 2019 year, the base can begin its work, and Russia will deploy in Sidi Barrani not only aircraft, but also a small military contingent.

VO has already discussed this topic:

      Or Libyan?

Why is he there? Why use a ship for loading and unloading goods and equipment in equipped ports. intended for landing on an unequipped coast?
For "express trains" the usual Ro-Ro-boat under the flag of a support vessel of the Navy is quite enough.

The 775s were pounded in the tail and in the mane.

So they were driven with terrible force until they bought normal VTR.

If these BDKs went in full stream, then there would be no one to equip their crews. Yes, and the infrastructure is marine and coastal unprepared for such a number of ships.

If these BDK would go in full flow

Yes, this is not a successful project, so they abandoned it in the Moscow Region - UDC is needed, but how correctly Rudolph wrote - there isn’t even a new project, and what does it mean? regrettably ,,,,,,

Do not insult the workers of Amber! They quite qualitatively "mold" ships from what they need.

The most unfortunate thing is that during the construction of Gren and Morgunov, not only there were no new BDK / UDC bookmarks, but they did not even decide on the project. That is, even if the Moscow Region begins to move on this topic, the time gap before launching the next ship will be enormous.

I thought I put it in no uncertain terms. They were blinded from the scientific and technical reserve that was available. Including engineering and design level and technological structure. The project itself is flawed, and the idea of unloading equipment over a previously built pontoon bridge is on the verge of absurdity. And in the Ministry of Defense "fellows", who first issued TTZ for it, and then feverishly tried to "fix" the ship already standing on the slipway.

At one time I had a chance to talk with the chief designer of "Yuri Ivanov". He asked about the swing. speed - why 16.4 knots? Answer - to increase the speed, it was necessary to put a more powerful main engine, but this would lead to an increase in displacement by 500 tons. MoE did not allow .....
