Osovets. The heroic story is reflected on the modern screen.

48
11 November of this year turned 100 years from the moment the First World War ended. On this day, Wargaming presented the short film “Attack of the Dead: Osovets” dedicated to such a significant historical event.

The film was based on real facts. He tells about a little-known, but significant episode of the First World War - the defense of the Russian fortress Osovets, which became one of the examples and symbols of the heroism of Russian soldiers. The counter-attack of half-dead Russian soldiers, who put the German infantry regiments to flight, was dubbed “the attack of the dead”.

The filmmakers have tried to recreate in the smallest detail the picture of the tragic events that took place at that moment, using the most advanced technologies for shooting and editing.

In particular, the experience of producing video games allowed the filmmakers to apply a unique format that has ample opportunities.

With their project, the authors wanted to convey to the audience the whole horror of any war, as well as the idea of its inadmissibility in the modern real world.

I read about battering ram back in Soviet times. then, due to ideological issues, they could write that the Germans did not apply.

The first air ram, indeed, was applied by Pyotr Nikolaevich. Unfortunately, he died in its implementation. During the WWII, both Germans and we used air ram. But unlike the Germans, it was very common with us. On the other hand, this was caused by despair and, in some cases, the level of training. For example, A.I. Pokryshkin spoke negatively about air ramming.

In general, the WWI as a whole and the Osovets Defense are a forgotten but glorious page in our history.

Sergey, hi We are not in the party activism of the Central Committee of the All-Union Communist Party of Bolsheviks, so we will lower the propaganda and deal with the facts.
German pilots used ram and did it repeatedly. At the beginning of the campaign against Russia, the Germans had enough forces and means not to use such a life-threatening technique as a ram.
However, the Germans used rams in 1941. For example, in August 1941, as Kurt Sohatzi, in the sky above Kiev, went on a Soviet IL-2 attack aircraft. Forehead in the forehead. Kurt shot down a flying Russian tank, losing half the wing of his own winged car. For his feat, the Luftwaffe fighter Sohatzi received the Knight's Cross.
With increasing losses, German pilots increasingly used ram in their combat practice. By 1944, rams were becoming commonplace. Moreover, the Germans are not only ramming enemy aircraft, but also ramming ground equipment of the Red Army.

After the defense of Osovc ...
In 1924, European newspapers wrote about a certain Russian soldier named Nikolaev, discovered by the Polish authorities in the Osovets fortress. As it turned out, during the retreat, sappers bombarded underground fortress warehouses with ammunition and food. When the Polish officers descended into the basements, from the darkness in Russian it was heard: “Wait! Who's coming? ”The stranger turned out to be Russian. Carrying out his service in strict accordance with the military regulations, the sentry stated that he could only be removed from his post by a breeder, and if he was not, then the "Emperor". The sentry surrendered only after he was explained that the country he served had long been gone. For 9 years a soldier ate stewed and condensed milk, without losing track of time and adapting to existence in the dark. After he was taken out, he lost his sight from sunlight and was taken to a hospital, and then transferred to the Soviet authorities. On this, his trace in history is lost.

This fact is little known. A direct analogy with the Brest Fortress.

There was almost no canned food at that time, there were fresh frozen cattle carcasses, ice was used to maintain the temperature in the storage facilities at that time! Well, how to say - there are many examples of Japanese soldiers from the period of the Second World War, who fought for many years after 1945 on the Pacific Islands, the last of which seemed only at the BEGINNING of 1970 to give up! So 9 years in Osovets - why not? if there was any kind of underground stream.

The right approach! Such short films at history lessons will be impressive to watch and remember. Will reach the bone marrow!
The Second World War - as the contemporaries of the First World War was called - should take its rightful place in the school course of Russian History.
And, it will not be necessary to strain with ideology once again, if there is a categorical ban in the Constitution and on the part of the authorities.
Here it is - ideology! Russian history! The formation of the State, its heroic past ... Russia-Empire-USSR-Russia ... The phenomenon of Russia itself is its ideology. Take and use.
I think so, on this and bring up children and recommend to others.
This is what needs to be laid in young and not strong minds, as a basis formed by beliefs.
Although, it is worth recognizing that now - it is difficult for modern youth, it requires patience and time. For many teens - History is a complex subject at their age. But, this is how to convey knowledge ...

PSSlov Vasily Osipovich Klyuchevsky - one of the largest Russian historians, an ordinary professor at Moscow University, academician of the Imperial St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences on Russian history and antiquities, chairman of the Imperial Society of History and Antiquities of Russia at Moscow University, secret adviser:
"History teaches even those who do not learn from it:
she teaches them for ignorance and neglect.
Whoever acts in addition to her or in spite of her, he always regrets in the end his attitude towards her. "
"History is not a teacher, but a warden, magistra vitae: it does not teach anything, but only punishes for ignorance of the lessons."
"Politics should be nothing more and nothing less than an applied history."
        - V.O. Klyuchevsky, cit. ed., t. 9, p. 366.

And, now, I think it’s necessary to explain to the children, what is history for. It is quite intelligible, I think.
Algorithms for the development of societies and humanity are expressed in the facts of history and their interconnections. Knowledge of history makes it possible to build a harmonious system of concepts, an integral picture of the world, to realize the interconnection of events and phenomena. History teaches us to think globally.
“A people who do not remember their history have no future!”
No one will ever be able to deceive a person who knows the History of his Country well, cannot manipulate his consciousness, he cannot inspire his false point of view, he will not detract from the significance and influence of the Great Russian history on the world, he will not be able to question the great victories and gains People, Countries, Russian Spirit ...
The experience of the past is enormous and invaluable. Its indisputable value for future generations shows why history is needed. Consider events, analyze them, “digest” information and only then, on the basis of the experience that has already taken place, understand the present, draw up an expedient and safe plan for the future.
History analyzes the past, evaluating a complex web of reasons that help to understand current events and phenomena in the modern world.
She teaches analytical skills, critical thinking and logical analysis of situations, which is simply necessary when studying many school disciplines. History trains memory and teaches the correct processing and perception of information, helps to develop the skills so necessary to look behind the headings of texts, correctly pose questions and express your own opinion.
To educate patriots on the basis of the Great Russian History, the creation and development of the Russian state, the Russian and Soviet Empire, the great victories and the influence of the Russian world on all mankind ...
Historical knowledge is no more and no less than a carefully and critically constructed collective SOCIAL memory. ...

          Recollection of the participant ..
“We did not have gas masks, so the gases caused terrible injuries and chemical burns. When breathing, wheezing and bloody foam escaped from the lungs. Skin on hands and faces bubbled. The rags with which we wrapped our faces did not help. However, the Russian artillery began to operate, sending shells from the green chlorine cloud behind the shell towards the Prussians. Then the head of the 2-th department of defense of Osovts Svechnikov, shaking from a terrible cough, wheezed: “My friends, don’t die to us like Prussians cockroaches from poisoning, we will show them to remember forever!” -

Recalls the participant in the events, the half-company commander of the 13 company Alexei Lepyoshkin. So the battle began, later called the "attack of the dead."
The already mentioned War Diary reports: “Having received a report on this (meaning occupation of the 1th defense line) from the commander of the 3th battalion, Captain Potapov, who said that the Germans who had occupied the trenches continued to advance to the fortress and were not far from "the reserve, the regiment commander immediately ordered the 8, 13 and 14 companies to advance from the fort to the Sosnenskaya position and, in a counterattack, knock the Germans out of our trenches occupied by them." These units, including the 13 company, the attack of which was led by Lieutenant Vladimir Karpovich Kotlinsky, were also severely damaged by gas and shelling and lost up to half of the personnel (losses of the 14 company located in the fortress were less). The Germans were promised that they would simply take unprotected positions. However, everything turned out differently: Russian soldiers with their faces wrapped in rags, “living dead”, rose to meet them.
“Having approached the enemy of the steps on 400, Lieutenant Kotlinsky, led by his company, launched an attack. With a bayonet strike he knocked down the Germans from their position, causing them to flee in disarray ... Without stopping, the 13 company continued to pursue the running enemy, with bayonets knocked it out of the trenches of the 1 and 2 sections of Sosny positions occupied by it. They again occupied the latter, returning our anti-assault gun and machine guns back captured by the enemy. At the end of this dashing attack, Second Lieutenant Kotlinsky was mortally wounded and transferred command of the 13 company to Second Lieutenant 2 of the Osovets sapper company Strezheminsky, who completed and completed the work so gloriously begun by Second Lieutenant Kotlinsky. ” Kotlinsky died by the evening of the same day. By the Highest Order of September 26 of 1916, he was posthumously awarded the Order of St. George of the 4 degree.
