During the operation of the FSB, the leaders of the cells of the international terrorist organization banned in Russia, Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami, were detained in Tatarstan, the FSB’s public relations center for Tatarstan reports.
According to the DSP, the FSB officers, together with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Rosgvardia, conducted a special operation in the Bugulminsky and Aznakayevsky districts of Tatarstan, during which they managed to detain the leaders of the cells of the terrorist organization. According to the information received, the detainees acted on the orders of the curators abroad. The organization considered the main task to be the overthrow of the legal authority and the establishment of a "world caliphate" on the territory of Russia. To this end, young people of predominantly Muslim faith were involved in the ranks of the Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami terrorist organization banned in Russia to be sent abroad as militants, as well as to prepare and conduct terrorist acts in Russia.
During searches conducted, banned propaganda literature, reports on the work done, communications equipment and money used for the preparation of terrorist acts were seized from detainees.
On this fact, a criminal case was initiated, the detainees were arrested, additional operational investigations are carried out.
In October of this year, it was reported that FSB officers on the territory of the Republic of Tatarstan detained the leader of the Russian wing and some leaders of regional cells of the international terrorist organization Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami banned in Russia.
