Siege outside traitors inside. NATO aims at Kaliningrad
It is in this vein that the recent publication in the Lithuanian newspaper Respublika should be considered, the author of which proposes to challenge the sovereignty of the Russian Federation over the Kaliningrad region. He bases all the "justifications" of this provocative throw-in on the absurd assertion that, allegedly, at the Potsdam Conference Königsberg was transferred to the USSR for 50 years, and this period expired in the 1995 year. So, the status of the Kaliningrad region should have been revised thirteen years ago.
As you know, in 1990, the united Germany signed the Final Settlement Treaty with Germany, which finally fixed the post-war borders. The document, in particular, states: "United Germany has no territorial claims against other states and will not make such claims in the future."
However, this does not bother the Lithuanian revisionist at all, since he claims that this is not about the German lands, but about ... “Lithuanian”! What the headline of the article immediately and unequivocally informs: “The Lithuanian region is in foreign hands”.
But the key point of the article is the obvious promise to the West in the form of a statement: “The militarized Kaliningrad today represents a clear threat both to the survival of Lithuania and to the security of the whole of Europe.”
It is possible, of course, to refer this publication to the next curiosity, which has recently been characteristic of three “small but proud” republics.
However, this material, like many other events in this direction, falls into the fabric of a well-designed and long-term program directed against our country. The ludicrous statement of the Lithuanian author is not the first similar passage.
Not so long ago, the former US ambassador to Russia, Michael McFaul, made a scandalous statement, in which, commenting on the entry of the Crimea into Russia, proposed Germany to annex Kaliningrad. “Koenigsberg has been a German city for centuries. Does this mean that Germany has the right to annex Kaliningrad now? ”McFaul wrote on his Twitter.
The speech of the former ambassador on this issue cannot be considered accidental. In the tradition of Washington - the use of retired diplomats and other government officials to articulate the most slippery ideas and declarations from which official Washington can distance itself from anything.
The Kaliningrad region, which is the outpost of Russia in the western direction, is like a bone in the throat of NATO. Not only is there a powerful naval base there that allows you to control the Baltic Sea area, but also Iskander missile systems deployed in the region hold a significant part of Central Europe at gunpoint.
And in this sense, the Kaliningrad region can really be compared with the Crimea: both subjects of the Federation perform the function of a forward military base ensuring the security of the country on the distant approaches. There is no doubt that Washington and its satellites would pay dearly for ousting Russia from this exclave or at least to achieve its “demilitarization”. It is in the context of these aspirations that it is necessary to consider all Western activity around Kaliningrad.
Note that for the entire post-Soviet period, Russia has not taken a single step that could be considered aggressive towards the Baltic countries.
However, the “defense of the Baltic states from the Russian threat” is a legend of almost all NATO exercises held recently, as well as the rationale for the alliance’s military preparations.
There is no doubt that in the case of the almost inevitable withdrawal of the United States from the United States Youth and Youth Directorate, they will try to deploy missiles in the Baltic States that will have a minimum flight time to the most important Russian centers and facilities, which is extremely important in the context of the "lightning global strike."
Although now there is no talk of deploying there not only medium-range and shorter-range missiles, but there are no missile defense systems yet, there is no doubt that such plans exist.
However, this is not the only goal of the Western military presence in the Baltic States. The Russian region is literally surrounded weapons. In the immediate vicinity of Kaliningrad, in Poland, the Americans are building a military base. In the Baltic republics, NATO battalions, or rather, battalion tactical groups of reinforced strength, are permanently stationed. The number of each BTG will be in excess of a thousand soldiers, each of them has its own air defense system, artillery, including howitzers and MLRS, a detachment of unmanned aerial vehicles, an EW unit, as well as a reinforced armored reconnaissance company. That is, we are talking about shock groups capable of independently solving tactical level tasks, including those of an offensive nature.
Western strategists combine external military pressure with the subversive activities of the “fifth column” in the region itself.
We can distinguish at least two directions of Kaliningrad separatists. One of them is marginal, prone to extremism, associated with neo-Nazis, sympathizing with Bandera. As its representatives, the Baltic Republican Party, the Baltic Avant-Garde of the Russian Resistance (BARS), the Public Self-Defense Committee (CBS), which is banned in Russia, can be called. These structures are in contact with the far right abroad and are prone to radical action. So, for example, three KOS participants (Mikhail Feldman, Oleg Savvin and Dmitry Fonarev) in March 1 2014 hung out the flag of Germany on the building of the Kaliningrad Department of the FSB.
At the same time, members of the group on the Internet announced a campaign for the accession of the Kaliningrad region to Lithuania.
During the search of the home of one of the members of the structure, Roman Otis-Adrianov, mass-dimensional mock-ups of automata were found - 2 pieces, hand grenades - 3 pieces, automatic stores with training cartridges, a steel helmet and other items of military equipment. Although possession of these items is not against the law, however, their presence may indicate that this group is undergoing combat training for its members.
It is also known that the leader of BARS Alexander Orshulevich is in contact with the German right-wing movement PEGIDA and the nationalist groups in Ukraine and the Baltic states, and the members of his group are fighting on the side of the punishers in Donbass.
If necessary, these and similar to them small and marginal structures may well be used for bloody provocations.
Along with marginal extremist groups in the region there are many quite respectable groups that formally deal with local history, the study of the cultural heritage of East Prussia, there is even the Society for the Protection of German Paving Stone. Behind all these structures, mostly acting on Western grants, the German “soft power” is clearly discernible.
Take, for example, the organization of the Russian-German House (RND), active in the area where there are no ethnic Germans.
In order to clarify the goals of this organization, I will cite a fragment of a speech by the vice consul on culture of the German Consulate General Daniel Lissner at the traditional RND event in Kaliningrad in memory of the Stalinist Decree on the deportation of Russian Germans:
The annexation of Crimea by Russia is a glaring example of a violation of international law, which we strongly condemn. Russia's attack on Eastern Ukraine cost the destruction of wealth, human lives and trust, which has been built for decades. ”
After this speech, Lissner had to leave Russia, the RND received the status of a “foreign agent”, but did not stop its activities. All of them are working to convince the inhabitants of the region that they belong to a new “Baltic identity”, which has little in common with Russia and is free from a free and enlightened Europe.
This is a quotation from a book titled “The 21st Century: Integration of the Kaliningrad Subject of the Russian Federation into the European Union,” which was written by a team headed by Anatoly Gorodilov, PhD in Law, who is currently giving lectures at the Kaliningrad State Technical University.
“The great dream was of the Western media when they wrote about the Kaliningrad region that some new Russian identity would form there, some Baltic Russians. That is, they were counting on less loyalty to Moscow, on a greater sense of belonging to Germany, the Baltic republics. Less involvement with Russia ... Thus, a certain regional identity was developed. This is still going on, ”said international journalist, international observer Sputnik International Dmitry Babich.
It may look ridiculous, however, one must take into account that such thoughts have been thrown into the consciousness of Kaliningradians for more than twenty years, and also that the same thing has happened in Ukraine since the beginning of 90's.
This work is also supported by some local media outlets whose journalists participated in Western seminars and master classes for the “free press”. Note also that almost all regional liberals hold separatist views. In addition, a number of local businessmen and even officials are economically connected with Poland, Lithuania and Germany.
One of the Kaliningrad separatists, Semen Bessonov, reported on the algorithm of rejecting the region from Russia. According to him, unrest will begin in the region, after which NATO will close airspace for Russian aircraft.
Then the regional authorities, having guarantees and interests in the West, will support the demands of the protesters about independence from Russia. The “creeping annexation” of the EU region will begin.
Such a program seems delusional, but the plans of the West regarding the Russian exclave are in many ways similar to it.
So, for example, in the very same Lithuania, they are seriously discussing the possibility of a complete blockade of the most western Russian region. But all the main communications connecting Kaliningrad with the rest of the country (power lines, gas pipelines, railways and highways) pass through its territory.
The anti-Russian hysteria that engulfed the Baltic states, the endless reports of alleged violations of the airspace and maritime areas of the republics by the Russian military can be viewed as preparation for the blockade of Kaliningrad — complete or partial.
The fact that this is not just a fantasy limitrofa, says that in March 2016, during a meeting with Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite, then NATO Deputy Secretary General Alexander Vershbow said: “Doesn’t the current identity of the so-called Kaliningrad region cause any doubts?”
Here it must be clarified that certain circles in this Baltic republic are referred to as Kaliningrad Region as Little Lithuania, Kaliningrad as Karalyauchus (there is even a museum of Little Lithuania in Klaipeda) and put forward theirhistorical rights ”to these lands.
However, Lithuania is not the only contender for Russian territory. In addition to it, Poland is also looking at the Kaliningrad region, which already received in 1945 a large piece of East Prussia. The Poles reinforce their present claims with a reference to the fact that the Teutonic Order and the Germans on the Prussian lands were invited by the Polish king (who did not control it and hoped, with the help of the Teutons, to find justice for the militant Prussians).
By the way, in Warsaw they are very concerned about the possibility of the beginning of the gathering of "German lands" by Berlin. After all, a significant part of the western territories of Poland until the end of World War II was part of Germany.
There is an opinion that the West will never initiate a revision of the status of Kaliningrad, since this will open a Pandora's box and cause serious disagreements between EU members and NATO allies.
But who said that this alignment is not in the interests of Washington? The countries gnawing among themselves, for which the United States acts as an arbitrator and the highest authority, are much more popular with Americans than a solidary and united EU.
Actually, these countries can be pushed together with their heads together while maintaining Kaliningrad as part of Russia. What, in fact, is already happening: McFaul promised the Russian lands of Germany, Vershobe - to Lithuania.
The Western plan looks like this: organizing mass riots of the type of "color revolution"; the introduction of the blockade of the Kaliningrad region; proclamation of independence. In this scenario, the "Baltic" NATO battalions are needed not to capture the Russian exclave, but to prevent attempts to break the blockade. There may be corrections in the plan - for example, the blockade precedes the actions of the separatists, and not vice versa.
The chances of fulfilling this plan are, fortunately, not great. Despite all the efforts of the “fifth column”, the absolute majority of Kaliningraders are patriots of their country and do not want to know anything about any “Baltic identity”. The area in recent years has been turned into a real fortress that you cannot take with bare hands.
However, any more or less resonant manifestations of separatism will mean a great success of the West. As they will give a lot of opportunities for organizing an information campaign on charges of Russia in suppressing the “chose freedom” representatives of the “new regional identity” and even the “foundation” for the next sanctions.
Allowing it to our opponents is not worth it. In other words, the time has come for serious opposition to Western "soft power." And if with extremist groups it is clear what to do, then the “humanitarian” organizations engaged in the promotion of the “Baltic identity” require no less attention.
