Pioneer of the Russian submarine fleet S.N. Vlasyev
In the spring of 1906, S. N. Vlasyev is called into the newly created training squad of submariners. He becomes the commander of the submarine "Mackrel", and in the year 1907 takes the submarine "Pescari".
At the end of 1907 of the year, responding to criticism of the idea of creating a submarine fleet coming from a number of senior naval officers, Vlasyev delivered a report “Report of the submarine commander Peskar about voyages and maneuvers,” which gave serious reasons for the further development of the submarine fleet. The ideas expressed by Vlasyev in the report found support in the person of the most prominent Russian shipbuilder, academician A. N. Krylov, and in 1907, he became the commander of the newest Shark submarine, taking direct part in designing its mine weapons. S. N. Vlasyev owned a number of developments in methods of conducting underwater combat and group use of submarines in fleet combat operations.
During the First World War, commanding the "Shark", Vlasyev made several independent military operations. The first attack of the Shark occurred on August 26 of 1914. The submarine torpedoed in the direction of approaching enemy destroyers, which cooled their ardor and made them abandon the attack. In 1915, on the orders of the Baltic Fleet Commander, S. N. Vlasyev was awarded the Order “For Excellent Patrol Service in the Battle Area”, after which he was appointed Commander of the Fifth Division of the Baltic Fleet Submarines. In August 1915 S.N. Vlasyev was transferred to the Black Sea Fleet, to the transport fleet, and in the 1916 year - to the 1 of the Baltic naval crew.
In the Civil War, Vlasyev joined the Volunteer Army operating in southern Russia. Since November, 1918 has led the maritime defense of a separate Odessa volunteer brigade. In January 1919g. in Odessa, in the course of the formation of the second detachment of river vessels announced by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the South of Russia, the author of the idea, captain of the 2 rank S.N. From February to June, Vlasyev was busy completing and re-equipping the vessels of the newly formed detachment. After the river detachment was disbanded, and a division of river boats was created instead, Captain Vlasyev assumed command of the French destroyers Worried and Captain Saken, after which he switched to the battleship General Alekseev. In July, 1920. S.N. Vlasyev was promoted to captain 1 rank.
In November, 1920. Vlasyev, being a member of the Union of Russian Naval Officers, left Crimea, finding himself in Constantinople, and in November 1922, the captain went to his last great transition: he led the Russian minesweepers and tugs to the port of Marseilles, requisitioned by the French for debts. In 1923, Vlasyev settled in Paris, where he got a job as a taxi driver. After graduating from the Great Patriotic War, he managed to build a bridge to Russia - he received USSR citizenship. Russian naval officer S. N. Vlasyev died abroad in 1955, and was buried in the famous Parisian cemetery of Russian émigrés Saint-Genevieve-des-Bois.
