Where are you, Holmes of the XXI century?
All this says only one thing: our “knights of cloak and dagger” are completely unable to work in a public space. In fact, for this purpose, each more or less serious agency has long been creating special information-ideological apparatuses: press services headed by press secretaries. Their bright (or not) heads generate new concepts and ideas, they also voice the opinions of the authorities. Some press secretaries, such as Maria Zakharova or Dmitry Peskov, eventually reach certain heights in their difficult profession. Even the “Nightingale of the General Staff” Konashenkov, after a series of crushing aphorisms, learned to work with the audience in the public sphere as well.
Another thing is the SVR and the GRU (or the GU General Staff). It was they who were in the center of the scandal, the British accuse the employees of these services. And in response - silence. But silence is also impossible. Silence is a sign of agreement with the accusations, and this is unacceptable in principle ...
As a result, comes to insanity. In public space, the opinion and point of view of the “brain trusts” of these structures are already voiced by those who are not caught - the same Maria Zakharova, Peskov himself, a military journalist and expert (and formerly a cadre officer of the SVR) Yevgeny Krutikov, political scientist Gevorg Mirzayan, a columnist for the “Vzglyad »Pyotr Akopov and a whole chain of other journalists and experts.
After another justifying article for the sins of others, Krutikov himself once in the hearts suggested in the press service of the SVR to place an answering machine, which will be answered to all calls by me: “The press service of the SVR does not comment on this.” The effect would be exactly the same, but what a savings on the salary of the device!
The inability to work in public space is only one facet of a whole host of problems that Scripal's scandalous case has highlighted. Here is the inability to correctly be legendary (so that various “useful idiots” like Insider and Bellingcat, vigorously serving the interests of their Western curators), and the complete disregard for the ancient espionage art of “changing the face during the play” and the absence of serious conspiracy ( including in the Internet space), and much more.
At one time, the author of these lines at the “dawn of a foggy journalistic youth”, together with the operatives of the MUR, tracked down at the stations of the capital of the Georgian pickpockets. Even then, he was pleasantly surprised how the capital syskari almost changed their appearance on the run, so that the thieves would not copy them ahead of time. One person went to the station toilet and another one went out. He looked into a stall for needy, a portly uncle in a cashmere coat, and a bumgish, limping old man came out with a beard and a beard. And then the old man turned into a Georgian with a cap-airfield on his head ... At these moments I immediately remembered Conan Doyle with his creative Sherlock Holmes and his ability to reincarnate in seconds. It would seem, what's the problem? Do the same, and no camera will shoot you - neither in Salisbury, nor at the airport. What are you guys, classics, or something, did not read? Well, take “Uncle Sherlock” in the nearest library and combine 19 century with 21 for health ...
For our special services, a new era is coming. Build into it is not easy. They now need truly revolutionary changes. A complete reboot should occur, primarily in the current ideological paradigm. But there is no other way out. As comrade Stalin once said, "either we will catch up with the West, or they will crush us."
Now the situation is mirror. While we are under pressure. What are we going to do: still fight back or catch up in Stalin? The question is open ...
