In the USA: The upgrading potential of the Chinook helicopters is enough for 2050's

The American company Boeing will extend the life of heavy military transport helicopters Chinook. We are talking primarily about the modification, which will be called CH-47F Chinook Block II. These helicopters have differences in the form of the latest avionics, engines and airframe design. Flight tests of the updated version of the military transport helicopter, which is produced with the 1962 year, will begin in the 2019 year.

In the USA: The upgrading potential of the Chinook helicopters is enough for 2050's

The updated version of the CH-47F Chinook, as the manufacturer claims, will have increased autonomy. It is noted that the modernized CH-47F Chinook will be able to serve the American army until the 50-s of the XXI century. If these plans are truly translated into reality, then Chinook can be called a unique helicopter, the service life of which (in various versions) will be almost 100 years!

The US Air Force notes that the demand for these military transport helicopters remains very high. They, like 40-50 years ago, continue to be used to transport military personnel and military equipment. In this case, there are already problems. Thus, it is stated that the Chinook payload is not sufficient to transport some types of modern American armored vehicles.

The director of business partnership development at Boeing, Randy Rotte, says that the CH-47F version was originally intended for transporting a payload of about 8 tons. Maximum - 12,3 T. The new modification of the F-version should have greater capacity indicators. It is also planned to increase such an indicator as the rate of climb. For active models, it is about 9,5 m / s.

Randy Rotte noted that fuel system upgrades are also scheduled. The helicopter will be equipped with additional tanks, which will turn it into a version of a flying tanker. It will be used to transport fuel for the needs of the ground forces. At the same time additional capacities can be removable.

It is known that the final assembly of Chinook Block II was launched in June of this year at a plant in the state of Pennsylvania.

Serial production of the upgraded models is scheduled to launch in the 2021 year. In the end, it is planned to put into service the US Army 542 helicopter CH-47F Chinook Block II, 473 model CH-47F Chinook and 69 G-series helicopters for special operations. For this, Canadian partners of the United States will be involved.

The new version of the F-version should have greater load-bearing capacity.

Well, yes, the Chinook can carry the whole bus, and the Mi-26 can carry the Chinook.

That is, in fact, a new helicopter ... and what is left of the old will remain?

But for specialists of turntables - if one screw, ordered to live long? In general, I will not exaggerate - without a podologist - how do you think the helicopter pilots themselves?

Why count? In case of failure of one of the propellers, a reactive moment begins to operate and the helicopter begins to rotate. Managed to plant - well done, failed - a mouthful of land ...

Hi, hi. I do not understand the burning - two, on different axles, or according to our development, on one rotor. I have a purely technical interest — they studied with a friend and fooled around, together with institutes after the current USSR SA — he turned out to be a helicopter pilot, there’s no connection, like I was flyers in Nyagoni (the North of the Urals), but he just went - and I was fishing in short . The point is purely technical, think flyers yourself, sometimes even only from the lessons you know how and why - forgive the experience of many friends to pilots, both attack aircraft and turntables - sorry for directness. I lost one of them.

The updated version of the CH-47F Chinook, according to the manufacturer, will have increased autonomy.
Boeing has embarked on the development of the US Army's Ch-2 Chinook heavy helicopter block 47 upgrade. Plans include the supply of 542 modernized helicopters from 2023 to the 2040s.
Block 2 Chinooks will be upgraded from current CH-47F models and MH-47G special operations, with 473 and 69 gliders, respectively. The update introduces new improved composite rotor blades, improved transmission, single (as opposed to segmented) sponson fuel tanks and reinforced aft, pylon and bow sections.

Extending the terms of modernization, with subsequent operation up to 100 years, the Boeing B-52 Stratofortress and CH-47F Chinook, is not from a good life. Roughly speaking, they have nothing to replace these machines for today and now the solution is found - modernization. Money went to other mega projects, but if you push the Russian threat, then perhaps we will hear about the new program

Along the way, things went to the point that combat aircraft loses its effectiveness and becomes a suitcase without a handle.

The vehicle is often confused with the Marine Corps CH-46 Sea Knight. Army "Chinook" became widespread relatively recently, when it became a regular in all helicopter brigades of the divisional level.
By the way, they consider the CH-53 Super Stellen as a "heavy truck", not the Chinook.
