Exhibition of trophies from Syria. Artillery and missiles

Freeing their land from the militants, the Syrian army regularly captures various equipment and weapons as trophies. Seized weapon Often used for its intended purpose, but some samples complete their "military career." Thus, a significant number of captured weapons are now exhibits of Russian exhibitions, showing the success of the operation in Syria.

Last week, the foyer of the House of Officers of the Southern Military District in Rostov-on-Don became a real exhibition hall, taking the exposition of captured weapons and equipment, previously confiscated from the Syrian militants. In every sense, a special place at this exhibition was occupied by various systems of artillery and rocket armament. Visitors showed almost two dozen samples of different types and different origin.

The basis of the rocket-artillery part of the exhibition was a variety of mortars. Such weapons have a good balance between ease of use and firepower, which is why the militants have a special love. The armament of terrorist formations consists of a variety of mortars - both factory-made and improvised. Such arsenals were formed both due to the looting of army warehouses, and with the help of independent “technical creativity”. We should not forget about the supply of weapons by third countries that support gangs.

The samples shown at the exhibition are, in general, similar to each other and to factory-made weapons. However, there are visible signs of specific origin. In the first place, this is manifested in the presence of non-standard mast elements or base plates of handicraft production. All these parts were made literally from scrap materials.

It is worth noting that militants can independently assemble not only mortars of a standard appearance, but also mortars of a curious construction. The exhibition was attended by a pair of such products, calculated, probably, for firing grenades. Unknown masters were not too lazy to assemble sector-level pick-up devices and even spring recoil devices.

Of particular interest are homemade rocket launchers. For well-known reasons, gangs are at their disposal aviation, while their regular carriers in the form of airplanes are absent. Terrorists solve the problem of using NAR using improvised installations with guides - two such products with a high degree of unification were immediately present at the exhibition. The basis of the launcher of this type is a pair of guide tubes, equipped with a simple electric fuse system. The swinging unit of the installation has a screw vertical aiming mechanism and is even equipped with rollback brakes. Despite the dubious appearance, such a weapon can pose a certain danger.

Naturally, the rocket-artillery part of the exposition was not without the factory-made samples supplied from abroad. So, together with mortars showed anti-tank grenade M-79 "Wasp" Yugoslav production. The launcher from the TOW anti-tank missile system was the most noticeable in all senses. Judging by the remaining markings, this product was manufactured in the USA and many years later came to Syria. What kind of “masters” put this system to the militants is a very interesting question.

There are large numbers of various weapons and equipment, including mortars, guns, missiles, etc., at the disposal of terrorist organizations operating in the past and continuing to exist in Syria. Successful joint actions of the Syrian army, the Russian AUF and other participants in the fight against terrorism lead to obvious consequences. The number of gangs is reduced, and their material part becomes a trophy. Some of these trophies are now on display at exhibitions in our country.
