The state tests of the airborne missile “Broneboyshchik” are almost completed, this year the issue of adopting it for service will be decided, Interfax a message from the general director of the Techmash concern (part of Rostec), Alexander Kochkin.
According to Kochkin, flight tests have been completed, and documentation is currently underway. The final decision on the adoption of a rocket into service is expected later this year.
If the decision is positive, then the experimental party “Armor” will go to the troops next year. Then the customer (the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation) will make the final decision on the purchase, the general director said.
Earlier it was reported that the newest rocket C-8OFP "Broneboyschik" is designed for use with airplanes and helicopters (Su-24 / 25, MiG-29, Mi-28 and others). Intended to defeat light armored vehicles and surface ships at a distance of 6 km. Its peculiarity is that, depending on the task, it may explode when hitting the barrier, in front of it or behind the barrier.
C-8OFP should complement the C-8 family of unguided rockets. The new ammunition has the same caliber (80 mm) and configuration, but its power exceeds the power of the predecessor 5-6 times.
The test launches of the “Armored Worker” were conducted from a Mi-35M helicopter.
