Soldiers of the “Combined Forces Operations” (EPO) received the armored personnel carrier BTR-4E “Bucephalus”, said the press service of EPC on a page on Facebook.
As reported on the OOS page, Bucephalus can "effectively counteract even heavy armored vehicles of the type tanks T-72, which is in the arsenal of the Russian-occupying forces. "The OOS military personnel have already appreciated the combat capabilities of the new combat vehicle. The OOS headquarters noted that the armored personnel carrier is equipped with a" powerful 30-mm cannon "and a combat module that includes anti-tank guided missiles “Stugna.” In addition, it has two water-jet propulsors and pumps for pumping water, so it is able to swim to force water barriers.
BTR-4E "Bucephalus" was developed by the State Enterprise "Kharkov Design Bureau for Mechanical Engineering" and is produced at the "Malyshev Plant". Development began in the 2002 year, the prototype BTR-4 was first demonstrated at the Aerosvit exhibition in the 2006 year. Under the designation BTR-4 in July 2012, the car was adopted by the Ukrainian army. In 2016, an armored personnel carrier was tested on the water. It is designed to transport fighters of mechanized units and fire support in battle.
The maximum combat weight is 17,5 tons, with additional armor protection - up to 25 tons. The crew - three people: the commander, operator, driver. The landing party is 7 – 9 people. The diesel engine ZTD with horsepower 500 provides the maximum speed on the highway 110 kilometers per hour, afloat - 10 kilometers per hour, the range of fuel - 690 kilometers.
