It was not necessary to introduce sanctions. China closed the port of Hong Kong for the US Navy ship

The Chinese authorities have denied the right to the planned call at the port of Hong Kong to the American universal aircraft carrier landing ship "Wasp" (Wasp). According to the South China Morning Post, this decision was made against the background of the contradictions between the two countries, Interfax reports.
According to the publication, the Chinese authorities came to this decision against the backdrop of Washington’s increasing tariffs on imports of certain goods from China, as well as the introduction of restrictive measures against the Central Military Council of China and its leader for the purchase of weapons from Russia.
The American Consulate, located in one of the administrative districts of Hong Kong, said that the US ships have long been entering the port of Hong Kong and are not going to stop it because of the ban. The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not comment on this statement in any way, only noted that permissions to enter the port are considered in each individual case.
This is not the first refusal of China by the United States to call the Navy ships in the port of Hong Kong. In 2016, due to the controversy in the South China Sea, in Beijing, the entry into the port of the US Navy carrier strike group was banned.
Earlier it was reported that the United States imposed restrictive measures against the Central Military Council of China and its leader because of military cooperation with Russia. In response, China recalled the commander of the naval forces of the People’s Liberation Army of China, Shen Jinlong, from the United States and postponed the holding of the next meeting between the heads of the joint headquarters of the armed forces of China and the United States.
