Russian special forces are adopting the 2B25 "Gall" mortar, which strikes enemy forces silently. Under heavy fire "silent death" enemy troops can not determine where the mines are flying from, and there can be no talk of a counterattack, RIA News material of the American edition of Drive.
According to the author of the material, the Russian 82-millimeter mortar 2B25 "Gall" entered into service with special forces units. It is designed to defeat enemy personnel and fires "with small mines flying completely silently." Noiselessness of the shot is achieved by using a special piston in the mortar design, which locks the gases when fired at the shank. Also, the author especially notes that when fired from this mortar, there is no smoke and no shock wave is created. This is the "silent death," adds the author of the material.
The mortar rate is 15 shots per minute, but if necessary, the rate of fire can be increased to 30. The publication notes that at this rate of fire, and given that the shooting is silent, the enemy will not be able to understand where the mines are coming from. The disadvantage, according to the author, is a small radius of destruction of the mortar - the maximum firing range does not exceed 1,2 thousands of meters.
