In August, the Army-2018 military-technical forum became the main event concerning the armaments market, where new items of the national defense industry complex were demonstrated. At the same time, information on the export of weapons in the public domain was quite small. the main news It concerns Algeria’s interest in acquiring a squadron of MiG-29М / М2 fighter jets. Also in August, it became known that the first BMP-3 purchased in Russia appeared in Iraq and that Rosoboronexport was introducing two new products to the international arms market: Tor-E2 air defense system and the Sprut-SDM1 self-propelled anti-tank gun.

Algeria plans to acquire a squadron of MiG-29М / М2 fighters

As it became known to journalists of the publication "Kommersant", Algeria, one of the largest military buyers aviation Russian-made equipment, shows interest in acquiring 14 MiG-29M / M2 fighters. As part of the Algerian Air Force, new fighters can replace the used Soviet MiG-29S from Belarus and Ukraine. MiG Corporation, this contract will allow not only to receive several hundred million dollars of profit, but also provide loading of production for several years ahead. At the same time, the last Russian attempt to enter the Algerian market with the MiG-29SMT fighter was made in 2006, but then the customer, having received the first 15 aircraft, returned them back due to the presence of substandard parts.

The fact that the representatives of Algeria and Russia are holding closed negotiations on the acquisition of a squadron of MiG-29М / М2 aircraft, told Kommersant journalists two sources in the sphere of military-technical cooperation, and the source of the publication in the leadership of the Russian military department clarified that countries are discussing the purchase of new fighter jets 14 . The cost of a potential contract (including the included means of aviation destruction) can be up to 700-800 million dollars. In Rosoboronexport (in talks with the Russian side), the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation and the United Aircraft Building Corporation (UAC) abstained on this account. At the same time, the Algerian military delegation visited the Army-2018 international military-technical forum in Kubinka near Moscow at the end of August, where the head of the supply department of the Algerian Defense Ministry, Major General Mustafa Debbie and Deputy Defense Minister of the Russian Federation Colonel General Alexander Fomin discussed issues including those related to Russian supplies weapons.

It is worth noting that today Algeria is among the largest buyers of Russian-made weapons, including Russian aircraft. Over the past 10 years alone, the Algerian Air Force fleet has been replenished with heavy two-seater Su-30MKA multi-purpose fighters (the 44 of the aircraft was contracted by 2006 of the year, 14 by agreement of 2015 of the year), by heavy transport helicopters Mi-26Т2 (14) combat aircraft Yak-130 (16 aircraft). In addition, the Algerian army began to receive attack helicopters Mi-28HE (in 2013, the 42 helicopter was contracted). According to Konstantin Makienko, an expert at the Center for Analysis of Strategies and Technologies, the intensification of Algerian procurement is associated with the "NATO intervention in Libya." If prior to 2011, Algeria was still eyeing the products of Western countries, after these events in the country they realized that partners are more reliable than Russia and China in such delicate issues as arms exports, simply does not exist, Makienko said.

At present, several dozen MiG-29С and MiG-29UB fighters of Soviet production, which were supplied from Belarus and Ukraine, are in service with the Algerian air force. In 2006, Algeria was going to update its fleet of aircraft, having contracted 28 new single-seater MiG-29CMT and 6 two-seater MiG-29UB from Russia. But then the deal fell through. Having received the first 15 fighters, the customer accused Russia of using used parts on airplanes and insisted on returning the vehicles. Subsequently, 28 fighters MiG-29CMT from that order entered service with the Russian Air Force, and in 2014, the Russian military received another 16 of such aircraft.

The proposed Algerian order for the 14 MiG-29М / М2 fighter jets together with the Xenumx supply of such aircraft to Egypt will allow RSK MiG to load its production facilities for several years in advance, the source of Kommersant in the aviation industry reports. Against the background of the plans of the Russian military to purchase MiG-46 fighters (35 aircraft will be delivered in 6-2018), the Algerian order will be a good help for the corporation.

The first batch of BMP-3 delivered to Iraq

The photos that appeared on the network and social networks show that the first batch of Russian infantry fighting vehicles, the BMP-3, finally reached Iraq. Earlier in February, 2018, it was already reported that the Iraqi ground forces began to receive the first BMP-3, but this information was erroneous and not confirmed.

The contract for the purchase of Iraqi BMP-3 was signed back in 2014, the blog reports bmpdHowever, its implementation was delayed due to various kinds of problems. According to some reports, Iraq acquired about 500 infantry fighting vehicles of this type from Russia. In addition to the BMP-3, the Iraqi military acquired the main combat Tanks T-90S / SK. It is known that Iraq ordered at least 73 of these tanks, we are talking only about the first batch of deliveries. In June 2018, Russian media, in particular Rossiyskaya Gazeta, wrote that the Iraqi military had met in Russia with one of the latest modifications of the BMP-3M. The reason was a photograph in which a representative of the Iraqi armed forces was captured on one of the infantry fighting vehicles manufactured in Kurgan.

Tekhmash plans to develop tank shells together with India

In the framework of the Army-2018 forum, the Russian concern Tekhmash, part of the Rostec state corporation, held talks with the Indian side on the joint development of a promising 125-mm round with an armor-piercing projectile intended for T-72 and T-90 tanks . Vladimir Lepin, the general director of the Tekhmash concern, said that it was planned to discuss at the forum the question of creating such an ammunition jointly that would have improved characteristics with respect to the Mango shot, the official website “Rosteha».

Recall that back in March 2014, the Ministry of Defense of India and Rosoboronexport signed a contract to organize the licensed release of 125-mm shots with the Mango armor-piercing projectile for the D-81 tank cannon (GRAU 2А26 index) in India. This munition was developed by experts of the V. V. Bakhirev Research and Development Machine-Building Institute (NIMI) of the Tekhmash concern.

At the beginning of 2017, the Russian research institute specialists carried out installation and commissioning of the equipment supplied, assisted the Indian side in launching its own production based on the existing artillery plants of the Indian Ministry of Defense. The complex of measures for organizing the production of tank ammunition, also included training personnel to produce Mango shots in India, certification of employees and the implementation of a comprehensive audit of the readiness and equipment of production. "Rostec" reports that the first batch of shots that were released in Indian factories, have already passed control tests with a positive result. Now the Indian manufacturer supplies the army tank shots "Mango" under its own brand.

Rosoboronexport launches the lightweight amphibious tank Sprut-SDM1 and the Tor-E2 air defense system on the international market.

Rosoboronexport, which is part of Rostec State Corporation, introduces the light amphibious tank (self-propelled anti-tank gun) Sprut-SDM1 produced by the Tractor Plants concern to the international arms market. According to the CEO of Rosoboronexport, Alexander Mikheev, this is a unique domestic development that has no analogues. "Sprut-SDM1" - the only lightweight floating combat vehicle, while possessing the firepower of the main battle tank. The Octopus can be parachuted from a ship, used at any time of the day, including on an impassable area for other similar combat equipment. Rosoboronexport believes that this development will be in demand in the market, primarily from countries with complex geographic conditions that combine the presence of mountainous areas, numerous water barriers and wetlands. In particular, the countries of South-East Asia show great interest in this combat vehicle.

The Sprut-SDM1 is intended for fire support of subunits, including airborne assault units, the fight against enemy armored vehicles, including tanks, the destruction of defensive structures and strongholds, military reconnaissance, and the organization of military escort. According to "Rostec", the machine can be offered to foreign customers to equip units of marines and tank divisions of the ground forces. The armament of the “Sprut” corresponds to the armament of the main battle tank - this is a full-fledged 125-mm tank gun, paired with an 7,62-mm machine gun and a 7,62-m remote-controlled machine gun. Like the Russian main battle tanks, the Sprut-SDM1 is equipped with a guided missile system that is designed to destroy armored targets, including those equipped with dynamic protection, at a distance of 5 kilometers.

A unique feature is that the combat vehicle is floating, while possessing a sufficiently high level of protection (for its class). Low weight and the ability to easily overcome various water barriers afloat provide the “Sprut” with a high level of maneuverability. Moreover, it can fire from a gun, while afloat, it can also be used in combat operations in hot tropical climates and high mountains.

In addition to Sprut, Rosoboronexport is beginning to promote the latest Russian Tor-E2 air defense system on the international arms market. This machine is designed to cover units and formations in all types of combat, as well as columns on the march, and to protect military and important infrastructure facilities from enemy manned and unmanned air attacks. This anti-aircraft missile system is able to hit aircraft, helicopters, cruise, anti-radar and other types of guided missiles. In addition, it can effectively deal with the attacking elements of modern high-precision weapons, such as planning and guided bombs, as well as drones within the affected area. The complex is able to operate in any meteorological conditions, around the clock, as well as in conditions of active fire and electronic countermeasures from the enemy.

Unlike the majority of foreign analogues, the Russian Tor-E2 air defense system is an autonomous mobile combat unit with high maneuverability. The complex is able to detect air targets and fire them not only in the parking lot, but also in motion. A four-channel “Tor-E2” air defense system, consisting of four combat vehicles, is able to simultaneously hit 16 air targets flying from any direction up to 12 km and a distance to 15 km. The ammunition of one combat vehicle of the complex was doubled to make 16 missiles.

According to the Director General of Rosoboronexport, Alexander Mikheev, the Tor-E2 air defense system refers to the long-awaited innovations in the segment of short-range air defense systems. For this reason, many foreign customers from different regions show interest in this complex. According to him, the new version of the complex has retained its best qualities, becoming at the same time an even more formidable weapon, and in terms of vitality and mobility, the complex simply has no equal today. For example, to disable the battery of the Tor system, it is necessary to destroy all combat vehicles. At the same time, in most analogs, it is enough to destroy the battery radar or command post. Also, the Tor-E2 combat vehicles are able to work in the “link” mode, exchanging information about the air situation and coordinating joint combat work. In this mode, one of the combat vehicles, acting from an ambush, can receive the necessary information from the second machine, remaining undetected by the enemy until the launch of the rocket, noted Mikheyev. Significantly increases the export potential of the complex and the fact that the Tor-E2 air defense system can be integrated into any existing air defense system of the customer, including one developed according to NATO standards.

The defense industry can be a salvation for Russia. Our weapons lined up for 10 years ahead. The problem is that we do not have so many plants to satisfy everyone. Urgently need to build factories and fill up with weapons of all comers.
