Volcker: the United States will supply Ukraine with additional lethal weapons
The United States is ready to provide Ukraine with additional military assistance in the supply of lethal weapons in addition to the anti-tank complexes delivered in April. This was stated by the State Department Special Representative for Ukraine Kurt Volker, writes The Guardian.
As Volker stated, the US administration, headed by Donald Trump, may decide on the delivery of lethal to Ukraine weapons, since "Ukrainians, defending their country, lose soldiers every week". According to him, Ukraine needs to increase its military potential and turn to other countries for help, "because they are being shot at."
Volcker didn’t rule out that in the near future negotiations between the USA and Ukraine will be held, during which the parties will discuss what is necessary from Ukraine’s lethal weapons. At the same time, Volker noted, the emphasis will be placed on the state of the naval forces of Ukraine, since "the entire Ukrainian fleet was seized by Russia." Also, the United States is ready to consider the issue of the supply of certain weapons capable of correcting the plight of the country's air defense.
Earlier, the United States supplied the Ukrainian armed forces with 210 missiles and 37 launch blocks of portable Javelin anti-tank complexes worth about 47 million dollars.
