A lightweight version of the Dublon sapper suit was tested in a hot climate in peacekeeping missions. This was reported to ARMS-TASS by the press service of the Scientific-Research Institute of Steel, (MC Concern Tractor Plants), where the saber engineer Dublon and its lighter version were developed.
Both of these means of protection were presented at the exhibition timed to the meeting on equipping engineering and sapper units of the Defense Ministry with personal protective equipment (PPE), which took place on May 17 on the territory of the Research and Development Institute of Engineering Weapons of the FBU "3 Central Research Institute of the Ministry of Defense of Russia". The meeting was attended by heads of engineering services of the Defense Ministry of the Russian Federation and representatives of industrial enterprises engaged in the development and production of protective equipment.
As noted in the Research Institute of Steel, the suit of the Dublon sapper today is in service with the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. At the same time, according to the military, Dublon is one of the best sapper defense complexes in the world.
At the exhibition, the military also presented unique armored helmets and armor materials developed by the Scientific and Research Institute of Steel. Some of the exhibits were tested during the exhibition in real work on the search and clearance of explosive device simulators.
The developers and the military during the meeting expressed their wishes and outlined ways for further development of PPE. The meeting made it possible to take an important step towards the development of requirements for modern sapper protection equipment, the source said.
