The first AW139 helicopters produced by the Russian-Italian joint venture Helvert will be released this year.
About this at the 5-th International Helicopter Industry Exhibition "HeliRasha-2012" in the metropolitan exhibition center "Crocus Expo" said the general director of the holding "Helicopters of Russia" Dmitry Petrov.
"The first assembly kit will be delivered at the HeliVert joint venture in Tomilino, near Moscow, created by the holding and the Anglo-Italian company AgustaWestland, in late May. This year we will launch the first helicopter, and not just one "he said.
The acquisition of AgustaWestland 50 percent by Helevert JV was approved by the government foreign investment commission in early May. The agreement on the establishment of the joint venture was signed by partners in the summer of 2011.
Information about the first AW139 customers of the Russian assembly was not disclosed, however, sources close to the joint venture claim that today there are more than 5 customers for these helicopters. One of them, in particular, plans to transfer 10 of its AW139 to the operation of UTair.
