Another success of Russian schoolchildren in international competitions of scientific and technical nature. The Russian team, represented by the guys from the school at the University of Information Technologies, Mechanics and Optics (St. Petersburg), won gold medals at the Olympiad in Robotics in the Chinese capital. It's about the RobotChallenge-2018 competition.
Schoolchildren from St. Petersburg took part in such competitions for the first time and immediately became the best in the “Creativity” category. They presented their development in the project "Pure Arctic", associated with the cleaning of the Arctic coast. Behind the Russians in this competition were teams from 30 participating countries.
Team mentor Igor Lisotsky noted that the project developed by Russian schoolchildren works on the basis of a neural network that helps work detect a barrel of fuel and lubricants without confusing it with another, possibly similar object.
Also at the Olympiad in robotics in Beijing, participants from different countries demonstrated developments that differed by moving along previously set coordinates, organized air races, showed the possibility of “social” communication. In total, about 1,5 thousands of different robots were presented.
The leaders in the competitions were teams from Southeast and East Asia.
