From the Black Sea Fleet to the Baltic. Alrosa goes to serve in the Baltic

High Command of the Naval fleet The Russian Federation decided to relocate the Alrosa submarine from the Black Sea Fleet to the Baltic Fleet, Izvestia reports citing the military leadership of the Russian Navy.
In the military, this redeployment was explained by the almost complete absence of the submarine fleet in the Baltic and the arrival of new submarines in the Black Sea Fleet. The submarine will be included in the Red Banner Leningrad Naval Base (LenVMB) of the Baltic Fleet. Later, the submarine will be sent to upgrade. Earlier, Alrosa made the transition to the Baltic, in 2011, it arrived in Kronstadt, where it underwent scheduled repairs.
It should be noted that, at present, only two submarines of the 877 project, still Soviet-built, are serving in the Baltic - these are Vyborg and Dmitrov. At the same time, the Vyborg submarine built in 1983 for a long time has not been modernized and has not been repaired, and it is planned to withdraw it from the fleet. "Dmitrov" in the period of 2014 - 2018 was under repair in Kronstadt.
Multi-purpose diesel submarine "Alrosa" is also not new. It was laid at the Krasnoye Sormovo plant in Nizhny Novgorod in May, 1988, and was built according to the 877В project "Halibut" with one constructive change — instead of a propeller, a water jet was installed on the boat.
