Kiev: Refusal of railway communication with Russia will help Nord Stream-2
63
We did not have time in Russia to discuss the statement of the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Omelyan about the possible termination of Ukraine’s railway communication with Russia, as they rushed to refute this statement in Kiev. But in order not to present themselves as stupid people, they came up with a “plausible” explanation. Former Deputy Infrastructure Minister of Ukraine Oleksandr Kava said that stopping the railway communication with Russia will help the implementation of the Nord Stream-2 project, reports NewsOne.
Speaking on the TV channel NewsOne, Kava said that in a situation where Ukraine is struggling to stop the construction of the Nord Stream-2 pipeline, the refusal of railway communication with Russia will set Ukraine as an unreliable partner. Kiev is making a lot of efforts in convincing Europe that it is a reliable transit country for Russian gas to Europe, Kava explained, and the refusal of a railway connection with Russia could lead Europe to look for other ways to deliver Russian gas, since Kiev will show itself on the negative side, capable of making serious political decisions without warning or consulting with "partners."
The second argument in favor of maintaining railway. communications with Moscow, Kava named possible retaliatory measures of Russia capable of causing damage to the Ukrainian economy by several billion hryvnias a year.
Recall that in Ukraine they oppose the construction of the Nord Stream-2 pipeline, because if it is sold, Ukraine loses a lot of money that it receives from the “aggressor country” as a transit country for Russian gas to Europe.
