Currently, ORSIS is rightfully the most famous privately owned manufacturer of small weapons in Russia. The industrial production of sporting and hunting rifles under the brand name ORSIS (a romanized version of the abbreviation ORZHEZHNYE SISTEM) by Promtechnologia began in March 2011 of the year. Specialization of the company is the release of precision weapons. To do this, Promtechnology LLC has everything you need - your own factory in Moscow with a modern machine park - 40 processing centers with software-numerical control (CNC) and about 150 workers with the necessary qualifications.
The young company that shot its flagship ORSIS T-2011 (Precision) in 5000 year quickly won the love and respect of customers, as well as good business reputation among Russian and foreign partners, and many shooters from ORSIS loved the world around the world. At the same time, the company does not stop at what has been accomplished, constantly updating the range of products.

One of the novelties of the private armory company with a Moscow residence permit was the heiress of the ORSIS T-5000 rifle - the high-precision ORSIS F-17 rifle, which was created in accordance with all the latest trends and trends in the development of sniper weapons - the rifle is made with multi-caliber. The model is available to customers in three calibers with three different barrels: chambered for .308 Win - the commercial version of the standard NATO cartridge 7,62x51 mm; .300 Winchester Magnum - a widespread hunting and military cartridge of high power - 7,62x67 mm; .338 Lapua Magnum - special sniper ammunition for firing long distances - 8,6x70 mm.
In Russia, the ORSIS F-17 rifle has no competitors at present. Previously, something similar was created only in another Russian private arms company, Lobaev Arms. But abroad, this model has a lot of competitors under the ORSIS brand. After winning the 2013 Remington MSR modular rifle in the USSOCOM Special Operations Forces sniper rifle competition, similar samples began to appear in large numbers. At the same time, for the civilian small arms market and for export, they were promoted as "losers" of the competition announced by USSOCOM, from the well-known arms companies Armalite, Blaser, Barrett, AI or Sako / Beretta, and newly created models of high-precision weapons with interchangeable barrels, for example, the Canadian rifle CADEX CDX-MC KRAKEN or Austrian Ritter & Stark SX-1.
The modularity of the new rifle is particularly emphasized by the manufacturer. ORSIS F-17 is designed for those people who need to solve mutually exclusive tasks. The design of the rifle allows the shooter to quickly change the barrel and change the caliber of the weapon, and this can be done in the field, and all that is required for this is one hex key. The main advantage of any and all multi-caliber small arms systems is the ability of the shooter to use smaller caliber ammunition for training, and large caliber ammunition, if necessary, for example, to use for hitting larger targets and firing long distances, noted in ORSIS.

Even nowadays, it is possible to find the opinion that multi-caliber weapons are just a fad, without any significant advantages. However, for a high-precision rifle, changing the caliber gives quite distinct advantages. And the main one is the versatility of the rifle. The same model can be used to solve various problems. For example, a sniper rifle chambered for the .308 Win caliber with a short barrel will be easier and more convenient for transportation, as well as for firing at close distances, suitable for urban combat. In the version chambered for .300 Winchester Magnum rifle becomes a more serious weapon, it is suitable for shooting at medium distances and conducting counter-sniper fighting. In the version for the .338 Lapua Magnum cartridge, a truly powerful and high-precision sniper tool appears at us for firing at long and ultra-long distances.
In addition to universality, an important advantage of a multi-caliber weapon is its economy. Buying a similar high-precision rifle with a set of three different barrels, you, in fact, become the owner of three different types of weapons. When buying an ORSIS F-17 rifle, savings can be very large sums of money. At the same time, savings are achieved not only at the expense of the rifle itself, but also at the expense of the ammunition used. So for training, you can always use cheaper cartridges, and for hitting real targets more expensive ammunition of the 8,6x70 mm caliber, which is about 5-6 times more expensive than the standard 7,62X51 mm cartridge. Specialists also refer to additional bonuses as saving the life of the main barrel of a rifle.
The third advantage of multi-caliber rifles include logistic advantages of weapons. The shooter may not always have at hand the cartridges of the required caliber, especially important when staying in remote or inaccessible areas. In this case, you can simply replace the barrel of the rifle and use less scarce ammunition. And here an important advantage is the speed and ease of replacement of barrels, since multi-caliber weapons are initially designed to provide easy disassembly with a minimum amount of tools used.

The fourth plus of such weapons is legal aspects. The weapon legislation very often rigidly regulates the greatest possible quantity of acquired units of firearms. At the same time, the additional barrel is not a separate weapon, so for one license you actually purchase three different rifle models at once. And in some countries you may face such a problem as the lack of certified shooting ranges with powerful cartridges, which include .338 Lapua Magnum ammunition. For example, in Germany at sports shooting ranges there is a restriction on the muzzle energy in 7000 J. At the same time, some versions of .338 LM cartridges do not fit into these frames, formally they cannot be fired.
According to the official website of the manufacturer of the new Russian modular rifle, this model can be safely called the "heiress" of ORSIS T-5000. The claimed accuracy of the ORSIS F17 also does not exceed the 0,5 MOA, they use the same shank, the rifle butts are also almost completely identical (only the landing slots differ). At the same time, the versatility of a multi-caliber rifle includes its versatility, which is achieved through a modular design. A replaceable set of one caliber of weapons to another consists of a barrel, bolt larvae, as well as a set of special spacers that are installed in a single box magazine housing for cartridges of different calibers.
The ORSIS F17 is a high-precision magazine rifle with a sliding bolt. The rifle is locked onto three symmetrical combat stops directly behind the slots in the breech breech. The side surface of the bolt of a new rifle has a spiral-shaped grooves to reduce friction, and the large knob of the bolt handle facilitates its unlocking. The shutter stroke is light and fairly smooth. The quick-release barrel mount on the ORSIS F17 model is a bayonet type connection. Rifle body parts are made of high-quality high-quality aluminum alloy. With rifle detachable box magazines that hold 5 cartridges are used. The rifle is completed with a skeleton butt with a back plate and a cheek, the butt is folded to the right side, but if requested by the customer, it can be folded to the left. Butt rifle can be adjusted under the anatomical features of the arrow.

In order to change the caliber of weapons from .338 LM to .300 WM or .308 Win, the arrow needs to be unscrewed the three screws using a hex key, remove and change the barrel, change the gate larva and install the required insert into the magazine for a certain caliber. Since the bolt is locked directly with the barrel of the rifle when locked, then when changing the caliber of the weapon, the arrow does not appear to have problems with adjusting the mirror clearance. Depending on the caliber, the firing range of the rifle varies from 1500 to 1200 and 800 meters, respectively. The ORSIS F17 mass without an optical sight and with an empty magazine does not exceed 7,3 kg. The rifle is 1333 mm for .338 LM and .300 WM calibers using barrels with a length of 700 mm. For .308 Win, a barrel length of 660 mm is used, and the total length of the rifle is reduced to 1293 mm, respectively. The pull force of this model is H (kgf): 6,4-14,7 (0,65-1,5).
The quality of workmanship and finish has always been the strengths of ORSIS, the new model also has a high level. The metal parts of the high-precision rifle F-17 have a Cerakote coating with three options available in additional colors: Sniper Gray, Desert Sand, OD Green, the base color Black Graphite. Preliminary tests of the prototype rifle, which were carried out in October 2017, demonstrated zero deviation of the mean hit point (STP) from the aiming point (TP) when replacing the rifle barrel and the practiced accuracy of shooting at 100 distances of no more than 0,5 MOA in the maximum available caliber. 338 Lapua Magnum. According to the developers of the new high-precision rifle, in the future, for customers, on request, it will be possible to order additional replacement kits for intermediate cartridges.
The ORSIS F-17 multi-caliber rifle is an excellent option for those shooters who appreciate quality, simplicity and reliability, as well as the ability to quickly change the caliber used, and to do this even in the field. The cost of a rifle depends on the configuration. Without additional interchangeable trunks you can buy this model for 400 thousand rubles. The cost of a rifle with one interchangeable barrel in the kit - 450 thousand rubles. A rifle with a full set of barrels will cost the buyer 500 thousand rubles (the rifle itself - 380 thousand rubles, two interchangeable sets of the barrel - according to 60 thousand rubles). This is the saving of such models of small arms, for three conventional rifles at a comparable price you would have to put out more than one million rubles out of your pocket.
