Environmentalists' complaint against Nord Stream - 2 rejected by German court

The Federal Constitutional Court of Germany refused the environmental association NABU (“The Union for Conservation of Nature and Biological Diversity”) to accept the request to cancel the permit for the construction of “Nord Stream-2” in Germany, reports Deutsche Welle.
Earlier, the NABU filed a complaint about the construction of a gas pipeline with the High Administrative Court of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The attempt was unsuccessful - in June, the court rejected the complaint of the association. Now the representatives of NABU tried to challenge this decision in the highest court.
However, the federal court did not find grounds for reviewing the decision. In addition, according to the judge, the plaintiffs could not prove that the administrative court violated the German Constitution.
Recall that in the spring the NABU activists announced their intention to urgently achieve through the court the cancellation of the permission to build a gas pipeline in the Greifswald Bay. Nord Stream's operator 2, Nord Stream 2 AG, ignored the environmental threats and began preparations for work.
Prior to that, the German government was called upon to abolish the construction of the gas pipeline by another environmental organization WWF (World Wildlife Fund). Representatives of the organization said that the project is harmful to nature, in addition, it leads to disagreement and undermine confidence within the European Union.
