Remote clearance machine "Foliage". Component of the Strategic Missile Forces and exhibition exhibit

A few years ago, in the interests of the strategic missile forces, the new remote demining machine 15М107 “Foliage” was created, designed to ensure the combat duty of mobile ground-based missile complexes. Such equipment has already entered service with a number of units, and in addition, it managed to take part in exercises and real service. For the time being, the general public could see “Foliage” only in photographs and video recordings from combat training events, but the first public display of this sample should take place soon.

The information support group of the Strategic Missile Forces informs that at the future the international military-technical forum "Army-2018" will present a number of modern types of equipment of rocket troops. Among them will be the newest remote mine clearance (MDR) machine 15М107. All the visitors of the future forum, which will be held in late August at the Patriot exhibition center (Kubinka), will be able to familiarize themselves with the submitted samples, including the “Foliage”.

While the rocket troops are preparing for the first public display of special equipment, we can recall history "Foliage" and consider its technical features. According to official data, MDR 15М107 is intended to increase the survivability of the components of a mobile ground-based missile system at field positions and patrol routes. The machine and its crew are able to search for various explosive devices and neutralize them in one way or another. Declared the possibility of dealing with a wide range of threats. Some methods of influencing the detected object allow to refer “Foliage” to the so-called. instrument on new physical principles.

A three-axle all-wheel-drive armored car SBA-60-К2 Bulat, which is a modernized version of the older machine KamAZ-43269 “Shot”, was used as the basis for the MDR “Foliage”. The armored body of such a machine provides protection for the crew and equipment against small arms. weapons and shell fragments. The existing power plant and chassis with high permeability characteristics allow the demining machine to work in the same order with existing missile systems.

During the assembly of “Foliage”, the habitable volume of the hull of the base Bulat is divided into three main compartments. In the front are the driver and commander of the car, behind them is the operator's compartment. The aft compartment is intended for the transport of sappers and their equipment. At the same time, significant volumes inside the case are given for placement of this or that equipment. A significant number of units, including large ones, are installed on the roof, outside the protected volume.

On board the "Foliage" there are several basic systems designed to solve a number of problems. First of all, during the combat operation MDR 15М107 uses an explosive device search station. A remote search module with 16 induction sensors is located on the outboard frame installed in the front of the machine. The search module detects objects that contain metal parts. Information about the state of the studied sector is displayed on the screen of the operator’s console.

Using a search module, a demining machine can examine a sector 30 ° wide at a distance of up to 100 m. Such detection characteristics are provided when driving at a speed of 15 km / h. This is sufficient for tracking rocket complexes and simultaneously searching for potentially dangerous objects. When moving to the stowed position, the frame of the search module is folded, and it is placed next to the hood of the armored car.

In case the enemy uses explosive devices controlled by radio, the Foliage machine is equipped with an electronic warfare system. While driving and searching or performing other actions, the operator may turn on the generator of interference. Due to this, mines can be exploded upon command from the outside, both in front of the machine or other components of the missile complex, and during the work of the sapper. According to some reports, the electronic warfare system is also capable of provoking premature operation of mines.

One of the largest and most noticeable elements of special equipment MDR 15М107 is a parabolic antenna located on the roof of the case. In the stowed position, she leans forward and partially rests on the roof. In the worker - rises to the required angle. The antenna is connected with radio-electronic equipment, creating a microwave pulse of sufficient power. During operation, the neutralization system can affect metal parts of explosive devices in a sector of width 90 °. The maximum width of the strip clearance is at least 50 m.

The principle of the demining system from the “Foliage” is the electromagnetic effect on metal parts, including components of electrical or electronic devices. The microwave pulse triggers the triggering of the electronic fuse or simply burns it out, causing the mine to become unusable. In this case, a continuous strip of demining is formed, along which people and equipment can pass.

According to known data, the operator of radio-electronic equipment can use the existing systems both separately and simultaneously. Depending on the current situation and need, it is only possible to search for explosive devices or to search for mines while simultaneously destroying them. It is curious that, if necessary, the crew of the Folk Carriage Station “Foliage” can undertake part of the task of finding and neutralizing dangerous objects. On board the car there is all the necessary "traditional" equipment used by sappers for independent work with explosive devices.

The crew of the remote clearance machine 15М107 "Foliage" consists of five people. In the front habitable compartment are the driver and commander. Behind them is a compartment with the workplace of the operator who controls all the equipment. Two sappers and their equipment are transported in the aft compartment of the vehicle. Access to the front "control compartment" is provided by a pair of hatches in the lower side plates. There is a similar hatch in the central compartment with the operator’s workplace. A pair of sappers can get into your bay through the door in the feed sheet.

In connection with the use of very powerful electronic systems, the radiation of which can be dangerous to humans, all habitable compartments have adequate protection. Thus, the body and glazing of the machine received the necessary shielding. For some crew members, special protective suits made of fabric with metal threads have been developed.

In terms of its dimensions, the Folding MDR differs little from other modern Russian armored vehicles, and its mobility meets the requirements of the Strategic Missile Forces. Such vehicles can accompany mobile ground-based missile systems on all patrol routes, including overcoming various obstacles. During such work, the demining machine should go some distance in front of the units of the missile complex, timely finding and neutralizing dangerous objects.


The first known information about the prospective demining machine 15М107 refers to the middle of the 2013 year. Then the Ministry of Defense reported that a promising sample of special equipment had passed some of the necessary tests. In the near future, it was planned to complete all the necessary tests, after which the “Foliage” could receive a recommendation for adoption. A little later, representatives of the Strategic Missile Forces, having published new information about the tests of a new special machine, revealed some technical details. In particular, then it became known about the composition of the onboard equipment and the basic principles of its work.

In the same year, deliveries of the first serial MDR 15М107 began to strategic missile forces. The first operator of this technology was the Teikov Division, which is armed with the mobile soil systems Topol-M and Yars. In 2014, several “Foliage” units were transferred to compounds serving in Novosibirsk and Nizhny Tagil. Soon, the Strategic Missile Forces announced their plans for demining machines. Before 2020, it was planned to transfer two dozen 15М107 to all the main missile forces. However, later these plans were adjusted and reduced four times - to five cars.

In September last year, the Department of Information and Mass Communications of the Ministry of Defense reported on the first use of remote demining machines as part of the Strategic Missile Forces exercises. According to the legend of maneuvers, the saboteurs of the conditional enemy laid two dozen explosive devices with remote control, built on the basis of mobile phones, on the route of the missile complex. The electronic warfare system onboard the Foliage successfully muffled mine control signals and prevented them from undermining by saboteurs. At the same time, other MDR instruments provided an explosion of mines at a safe distance. At the same time, the Yars protected complexes were located at a great distance from explosive devices and were not exposed to any risks.

Since the autumn of last year, the Ministry of Defense has several times reported on the use of MDR 15М107 “Foliage” in various exercises of strategic missile forces. According to published data, in all cases the crews of such equipment successfully coped with the tasks of detecting and deactivating conventional enemy explosive devices.

In December 2017, the interested public was able to learn more about the Foliage car, see this technique from the outside and inside, and also observe its work in terms of the exercises. Curious shots and information were published by Zvezda TV channel in the next release of the Military Acceptance program. It is safe to say that this was the most complete story about MDR 15М107 of all known.

According to recent reports by the Ministry of Defense, in the very near future, everyone will be able to see the “Foliage” remote mine clearance vehicle not only in photos and videos. This sample of modern domestic technology in August will be one of the exhibits at the international military-technical forum "Army-2018". Apparently, the car will be part of the static exposure. However, for the time being it cannot be ruled out that she will have to take part in a dynamic show.

Russian strategic missile forces are acquiring new equipment of various classes and types, including those designed to ensure combat patrols and duty rocket complexes. At the same time, the Strategic Missile Forces find an opportunity not only to update the fleet of equipment, but also to show the public the results of their rearmament. At the end of August, the next exhibition will be held in the Patriot park near Moscow, during which the Russian armed forces, including the rocket troops, will show their new models of equipment. It is expected that the Foliage 15М107 remote clearance machine will attract the attention of the public and become one of the most popular exhibits.
