Gerashchenko: the West begged Ukraine not to impose martial law
31
Nardep VRU Anton Gerashchenko told the media about the appeal of the West to the Ukrainian authorities in 2014 year. The appeal of Western leaders concerned the "desire" of Kiev to impose martial law in the country. According to Mr. Gerashchenko, the West literally begged Ukraine not to impose martial law because of the events unfolding in the Donbas.
This statement was made by the people's deputy of the Verkhovna Rada on one of the Ukrainian TV channels. Gerashchenko, who oversees the infamous site “Peacemaker” (blocked in the Russian Federation):
All our Western partners simply begged and held Turchinov’s hands (...) and said: “Please do not enter martial law”.
Gerashchenko notes that the introduction of martial law would lead to the collapse of the presidency of Petro Poroshenko. Thus, Gerashchenko makes it clear that Poroshenko’s support at the time meant a lot to the West.
In fact, Gerashchenko and all those who give similar statements about the "prayers of the West", of course, are cunning. In Kiev itself, in 2014, it was well understood that martial law would simply bury the entire Maidan top, including not only Poroshenko, but Turchinov along with Gerashchenko, Avakov, and others. The fact that martial law would automatically block the issuance of international loans to Kiev, without which the economy would have burst for several months. True, now for the Kiev "elite" is another misfortune - the time comes for the payment of previously received loans. This year alone, Kiev is obliged to pay creditors over 12 billion US dollars.
