The rearmament of the Strategic Missile Forces (RVSN) for the new complexes will be completed by 2028, reports RIA News message commander of the troops, Colonel-General Sergei Karakaev.
The Strategic Missile Forces will be equipped with new weapons and military equipment up to 2028 of the year, and on selected points - up to 2030 of the year, the commander told reporters, adding that the rearmament of the new complexes will end at the turn of 2027-2028.
According to him, the troops constantly receive new types of missile weapons and equipment in accordance with the schedule of the armament and defense procurement program. This also applies to logistic support.
Currently, troops receive strategic complexes PC-24 "Yars".
Taking into account the development of missile defense systems, the adoption of these missiles for armament will enhance the capabilities of the strike force of the Strategic Missile Forces to overcome the missile defense forces, which in turn will strengthen the potential of nuclear deterrence.
In addition, as previously reported, by the 2020, troops will begin to receive intercontinental Sarmat missiles, designed to replace the Soviet Voevoda ICBM, as well as ground systems with Avangard hypersonic missiles, which, according to open source data, reach speeds of 20 Mach.
Recall, the RS-24 “Yars” missile system (the “Topol-M” family) was developed by the Moscow Institute of Thermal Engineering. The first launch of the rocket took place in May 2007 from the Plesetsk test site.
The commander called the timeline for the complete rearmament of the Strategic Missile Forces
