The Russian leader, in his congratulations, noted that today the republic marks a significant date in stories since the liberation of Minsk was one of the greatest victories our grandfathers won during the Great Patriotic War. The brotherly friendship and mutual assistance bequeathed by them today and serve as a reliable basis for the development of Russian-Belarusian relations.
And in Minsk, the holiday began with a military parade, in which, apart from military personnel and equipment of the Minsk garrison, the Russian and Chinese military took part. The total number of servicemen involved in the parade exceeded 4 thousand people, 250 units of military equipment passed in front of the stands. For the first time, female military personnel of formations and military units of the Belarusian army and a summary calculation of cadet schools, specialized lyceums and cadet corps were held in the parade.
Russian paratroopers from the 175 of the Pskov airborne assault division of the Airborne Forces, which in 1944, liberated Minsk and the whole of Belarus from the Nazi invaders, traditionally took part in the parade columns. Also a solemn step along the avenue was a detachment of the guard of honor of the Chinese army.
The mechanized convoy was led by the legendary tank of the Great Patriotic War T-34-85, which took part in the liberation of Belarus, which was followed by modern technology, armed with the army of the republic. This was followed by the air part of the parade, in which the main types were presented aviation technicians of the Air Force and Air Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of the country.
In the evening in the Belarusian capital is expected festive fireworks. Traditionally, it will begin in 23-00, the salute artillery is located in six firing positions.
