Does Poland modernize armored vehicles in Russian?
In the article, security expert Yuliush Sabak reports that the first modernized infantry fighting vehicles BMP-2M, equipped with four 9M133 "Cornet-E" anti-tank guided missiles, entered the 74-th separate guards motorized rifle brigade of the Central Military District. These are the first of the 540 combat vehicles, the modernization of which must be completed in 2018-2025 in order to significantly increase their ability to destroy armored vehicles.
The journalist draws attention to the fact that in the Russian armed forces modernized armored vehicles first of all come to units with a high level of combat readiness:
The author notes that the main innovation that was introduced on vehicles of this type was the installation of the B05X01 “Berezhok” tower module, which is distinguished at a glance with two dual modern installations of the Kornet-E 9M133 ATGM. Besides them, the armament of the module is represented by a standard 30-mm automatic gun 2A42, an 7,62-mm machine gun coupled with it and an AGNS-30M automatic grenade launcher.
Juliusz Sabak concludes that the new turret module significantly increased the combat potential of the BMP:
The article states that, according to the agreement concluded in 2017 in September, the B05YA01 “Berehok” turret modules must receive the 540 BMP-2 and BMD-2 armored vehicles. It should be expected that the upgraded vehicles will go to selected units in the most experienced formations of the Russian ground and airborne troops belonging to the rapid reaction force. In the 74-th separate guards motorized rifle brigade, new armaments will most likely be joined by the 204 th guards motorized rifle regiment, which is the only one in the brigade armed with BMP-2 vehicles.
The expert believes that the upgraded BMP-2М is inferior to NATO armored vehicles in firing accuracy, but at the same time, it surpasses them in combat power:
The author recalls that in Russia, even the outdated and few BMP-1 vehicles left in service were included in the modernization process, which will receive BTR-82A transporter towers armed with an 30-mm cannon, which is a cheap and effective solution ensuring an increase in firepower a step further. compared to the outdated 73-mm gun.
In conclusion, the Polish expert regrets that Poland does not adopt the Russian experience in modernizing outdated armored vehicles:
The article caused a discussion in the comments. At the same time, the opinions of Polish readers about the need to modernize Polish BMPs were divided, not all of them supported the author. Some Internet users also criticized the journalist for an unconfirmed statement that Berehok was inferior to NATO counterparts. Here are some comments of the Poles.

"The bank doesn’t compare with the Western systems"? Strangely, something different was written in the Polish press (specialized). And anyway, it is funny - to compare 1 and 2 equipment, without using it at all and not seeing it live, in work.

This is a very sensible idea. When we use such a machine as a carrier of anti-tank missiles, armed with a modern cannon and, moreover, having the ability to float, we’ll have a real car supporting the battlefield.

Indeed, it would be a pity if we just had to scramble the BMP-1. These are cool little light mobile chassis, the ideal carrier for the Karabela program missiles (anti-tank missile equipment program. - Note)

BMP-2 and just, whatever they put. The armor is frail, it makes him holed, the crew and troops in such a shit does not have any protection system, not only will cluster holes make holes, but also no protection from the guns of other infantry fighting vehicles. The only plus that floats, which do not make heavy Western BMAP

I will ask the author where and when he took part in firing from these armored vehicles or on what reliable data the thesis is based that these systems are inferior in firing accuracy to NATO armored vehicles!

The best idea to upgrade these riding coffins is to fill them with explosives and send the driver on a suicidal mission. At least, only one will die and maybe it will achieve something ... And in fact, ISIS (forbidden in the Russian Federation) already in Syria realized that the BMP-1 is suitable only for this, because the side and back armor can be shot from Kalash "charged armor-piercing cartridges.

"Poor" Czech Republic, Slovakia modernize the BMP-1 / 2. “Poor” Russia is modernizing, “poor” Israel is modernizing (converting tanks in the Akhzarit infantry fighting system). But "rich" Poland will send the BMP-1 and T-72 to the smelter and buy new units. And what, who will forbid the rich? Can afford! The lives of soldiers can protect the Czechs / Slovaks, and we will buy a teddy bear (sorry, badger) at full rate.
It should be added that the author of the material, Yuliush Sabak, in November last year, already devoted the bulk of the modernization of Russian BMP materialin which he acknowledged that the updated Russian armored vehicles pose a "great danger" for NATO armored forces and called for the immediate implementation of a system of active protection against new-generation Russian missiles.
In that article, the journalist also stated that the NATO BMP and BTR at the moment are not equipped with modern launchers for guided missiles, noting separately the catastrophic situation with the introduction of such facilities in the Polish army:
However, the fact that Russia without large financial costs by upgrading outdated weapons successfully strengthens its strike potential was recently recognized on the pages of the Defense24.pl portal by another expert, Yakub Pavlovsky, who cited the installation of Dagger missiles on the MiG-31 as an example and Caliber missiles on small ships.
Thus, it can be stated that the modernization of the Russian armed forces is closely monitored in the NATO countries, and Polish experts, who recognize the effectiveness of such solutions, even offer Russian experience as an example to follow.
