In Hawaii, starts the large-scale exercise "Pacific Frontier"
According to the press service of the US Navy, 47 surface ships, 5 submarines, more than 200 aircraft and 25 thousand military personnel are involved in the exercise.
Initially, China was supposed to participate, but a month before the event, the Pentagon canceled its invitation. The official reason is the militarization by China of the disputed islands in the South China Sea. Beijing called such a move destructive and once again declared that the US was groundless.
It is reported that from June 27 to August 2, the forces involved will work out landing, anti-pirate techniques, actions against submarines and aviation enemy, as well as conduct rocket fire.
Representatives of Britain, Australia, South Korea, the Netherlands, India, Germany, Mexico and other countries are among the military who arrived at the exercise. For the first time, Israel, Vietnam, Sri Lanka and Brazil will take part in the Maritime Turn.
RIMPAC maneuvers are held once every 2 year near the Hawaiian Islands. This year they will be held 26 times. For the first time such a teaching took place in 1971.
