In accordance with the decree of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich, in the summer of 1667, the construction of the Orel frigate began - the first Russian sailing ship of Western European type. Construction was carried out in the village of Dedinovo near Kolomna. Logging was carried out immediately, and the iron set Tula and Kashira. The construction was led by Russian masters with the assistance of a visiting Dutchman. Less than a year later, the Eagle frigate was launched, and in the spring of 1669, he set off for the service station in Astrakhan.
"Eagle" was the first and far from the last ship of domestic construction. By the beginning of the XNUMXth century, Russian shipbuilders had built several new ships and ships. Reforms of Peter the Great and the construction of the naval fleet spurred the development of shipbuilding. New shipyards appeared, which immediately contributed to equipping the fleet. New boats, ships and ships of all the main classes were built at an enviable pace. Towards the end of the first third of the century, ships and vessels of Russia counted hundreds.
The XVIII century was the era of the great victories of the Russian fleet. At the heart of all the successes of the admirals and all the sailors lay the difficult but important work of shipbuilders. At the same time, maritime trade was developing, which also could not exist without shipbuilding. Shipbuilders mastered the new designs and technologies, and also fruitfully cooperated with the creators of naval weapons.
In the XIX century, the Russian shipbuilding plants began to master the construction of metal ships, and then created the first domestic steam vessels. Despite the complexity of the new technologies, the shipyards tried to quickly master them, helping the military and merchant fleet. New successes shipbuilders reflected on the success of military sailors. However, their creations did not always come back with a victory ...
New XX century brought new challenges and challenges for shipbuilders. Independently and with foreign help, the Russian shipyards mastered the construction of ships of new classes, which soon had to participate in battles. In addition, during this period, the full-scale construction of ships of a completely new class - submarines. The industry has once again become the leader of progress.
Later in the XX century, shipbuilders introduced a lot of new technologies and ideas. The construction of gigantic warships and merchant ships of various classes began. Shipborne nuclear power plants appeared, which allowed to obtain exceptional characteristics and capabilities. The importance of the industry for the armed forces and the national economy simply could not be described.
Modern story Russian shipbuilding continues the glorious centuries-old tradition. Overcoming difficulties, all enterprises in this industry continue to work and open up new horizons. Hundreds of thousands of specialists, consisting of more than a thousand organizations, are engaged in research, design and construction of ready-made ships. The results of the industry again become a cause for pride.
