Turkish authorities commented on US refusal to supply F-35

The Turkish government commented on the decision of the US Congress to terminate Turkey’s participation in the fifth-generation F-35 fighter program. Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım said on this occasion that Ankara will find an alternative to the American fighter, the Turkish television channel NTV reports.

Turkish authorities commented on US refusal to supply F-35

In his statement, Yıldırım noted that the refusal of Turkey’s participation in the production program and the subsequent use of the fifth-generation American fighter F-35 is certainly an unfortunate development of the situation, is regrettable and contrary to the spirit of strategic partnership. But at the same time, Ankara will not remain without an alternative to this fighter.

At the same time, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey Mevlüt авavuşoлуlu, answering journalists ’questions regarding the refusal of the US Congress to acquire the fifth generation F-35 aircraft, allegedly due to the C-400 deal with Russia, said that the issue was completely closed and Turkey case will acquire anti-aircraft missile systems C-400.

It should be noted that at present Turkey, in the framework of the production and subsequent operation of the 5 generation fighter, the F-35 has transferred to the USA about 800 million dollars. In addition, from the very beginning, Turkey was one of the nine main participants in the F35 development program. In accordance with the contract, Ankara should get the 120 latest fighter-bombers. Turkey also produces one of the most important parts of the F35 design and has committed itself to the maintenance and installation of the F-35 engines.

Earlier, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Ankara will not abandon the deal with Russia on the acquisition of C-400 air defense systems, even under the threat of imposing sanctions.

From the very beginning, Turkey was one of the nine main participants in the F35 development program.

If the Turks did not just sign up, but financed the program, then the scandal would be terrible.
I suppose the Americans are just scaring, and then they will "have mercy." For example, Turkey will buy the S-400, then the “fanatic” will crash Erdogan (perhaps they will find a ticket for Moscow-Istanbul in his pocket), the new president will say “since they’ve bought it, then don’t throw them away,” the USA will “come to an understanding” and put F-35. Money doesn't smell.

So there really is something in this F-35 time the United States took such a step. Moreover, sales need to beat off costs, but they can count money. Moreover, it undermines reliability and joint projects are unlikely to be further.

It would not be desirable for the consumer, but the manufacturer has always dictated, dictates and will dictate both the price and delivery conditions. And it’s the same whether it’s a plane or a potato. Another thing is a lot of manufacturers of potatoes, and producers F35 two times and miscalculated.

The problem here is not in Turkey’s plans to buy the S-400 -
this is only a trigger, but in the general political Islamization of this country

Congress’s decision may change, or the F-35 may fly to Turkey, bypassing the US Parliament. I don’t know ... Well, I can’t believe in the prospect of Turkey buying Sukhoi aircraft. No Turks will not buy PAK-FA, SU-57 is still more of a fighter, and Turks need something that works on the surface. Turks also in the future need aircraft with short take-off and vertical landing for their Navy. But Drying isn’t suitable for this, having to make a choice if the Turks refuse, they will rather buy Typhoon than SU-57. An airplane is not an autonomous S-400 complex, adjusting the SU-57 to its own air forces is much more difficult and costly. All armament all equipment military training Turkey has Western armaments. Do not listen to the local cheers of the patriots, they think, “I bought a plane and I flew to bend everyone”, but in the matter, the plane must be operated by an American-made AWAC, all Russian avionics fighter, how do you imagine? .For Turks, the purchase of an SU-57 is an outburst of money in the air, Turkey does not have such capabilities to maintain two different air forces. In any case, they produce spare parts for the F-16 and can fly on it and also work with Saab to create their own fighter, General Electronics engines, the Airliner is developing Aselsan.
