In India, the final stage of testing of the FH-155B “Dhanush” modified 77-mm towed howitzer with the increased length of 45 calibers completed. Within five days of 2 June 2018, a battery of six howitzers fired 50 shots at the Pokhran range on targets at a distance of 38 km. India has completed tests of the FH-155B Dhanush 77-mm towed howitzer

The 155 mm FH-77B Dhanush towed howitzer is a modified licensed copy of the Swedish 155 mm artillery system from Bofors. Indian governance armory OFB plants received the technology for the production of guns as part of a contract signed with Bofors in 1987 for the purchase of 410 units. 155-mm howitzers FH-77B with a barrel length of 39 calibers and the supply of ammunition for them. Due to a corruption scandal, the contract was postponed for 25 years. Production resumed only in 2012, when prototypes of the modernized 155-mm towed howitzer with an increased barrel length of 45 calibers were made.

The first tests of the modified howitzers failed. The trunks of the two prototypes in August 2013, were broken during the shooting. Currently, problems, according to manufacturers, are eliminated completely. The firing range of the Dkhanush is 38 km, which is 11 km more than the Swedish FH-77B.

After the delivery of the first 6 howitzers, the Indian army plans to acquire another 12 howitzers during the year and another 36 - within two years. If the experience of operating the upgraded howitzers in the troops is considered positive, then the Ground Forces will receive all the howitzers provided for in the 414 contract.

Incomplete! Under the umbrella there should be a maharajah, two servants with a fan on the sides, and gun crew scurrying around!

Sunstroke - a serious thing. A terrible air raid, or missile attack. what
Therefore, this howitzer was created in full compliance with sanitary and epidemiological standards winked

They added an umbrella, without it ...... current it seems to me that the Swedish original was cooler. I also recommend in the net to find a video of how Indians shot dancing from a cannon.

Without an umbrella, this howitzer will not be particularly combat-ready. It remains to be a private with a fan near to place. Then, in general, everything will be in the most complete order.

6 pieces this year, 12 next year - the pace is simply fabulous. China must be very worried.

This is a trial operation - military tests are called. Based on test results, refinements to the design and / or manufacturing technology may be required. Only after this can mass production begin. Or don't start.

I’m no longer a military man and certainly not an artilleryman, but for testing 50 barrels, it’s a bit much. You can make 5. Carry, shoot, etc., and then decide on the results of the tests.

Do not forget that this is their third towed artillery modernization program. Add the purchase and assembly of the British-American M777 and re-stocking with the ASUNO equipment of the Soviet M-46
Everything in general is quite expensive.
In addition, the new tool is so perfect that it is not a fact that it makes sense to rivet it in a towed version, albeit a self-propelled one. Apparently, they have not yet decided finally, to rivet it in this form or put it on a car chassis.

So why 50? Make 5 or 10 and test, and when you come to some logical conclusion, then do it.

                yes and do it.

I don’t think they will do more than 50. Plus, about three hundred FH-77B, which, by the way, are very advanced. Plus 200 already sawn in 155 mm M-46, plus 145 M777.

The FH-77B will most likely be phased out. Replacing the first, "Dhanushi", and secondly self-propelled guns. The contract for the first hundred SPG K9 Vajra-T has already been signed.

The chinas have already hid under the bed from fear and are ready to sign an act of surrender in advance. And there are also Indian tanks with umbrellas.

If you shoot nuclear, then the pace is normal, given the year the contract was concluded ..

a battery of six howitzers fired 50 rounds at the Pokhran firing range at targets at a distance of 38 km.
It is curious what these targets are (probably the square of the square with the house marked on the ground) and how densely dotted the space around the targets. It seems to me that it is very difficult to get directly into the target with an ordinary projectile from such a range. All the good to the Indian gunners, we they can’t fight. With such howitzers, the wheel of Karma will spin faster towards their enemies hi

Is it by accident that the wrong howitzer was modernized that she was driving herself and the crew was dancing around her? It seems that the video was uploaded for a long time, at the expense of the wizards of artillerymen from India, and if they also shoot, then it's generally cool!
