Now diplomatic relations will be established between Damascus and Tskhinval, and at the same time between Damascus and Sukhum. This is in line with the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, adopted on 18 on April 1961, and on the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations on 23 on April 1963.
The decision of Syria was welcomed by the Foreign Minister of South Ossetia Dmitry Medoev:
The preparatory process lasted several years, and work in this direction continues. Search for new friends on different continents is constantly,
- he said, adding that a cooperation agreement was recently concluded between the city of Tskhinval and the Italian city of Gradar.
For his part, the president of South Ossetia, Anatoly Bibilov, said that everyone needs new friends, especially those who are faced with aggression, terrorism and found themselves in difficult conditions.
And on the website of the President of Abkhazia Raul Khadzhimba stated:
29 May 2018 The Republic of Abkhazia and the Syrian Arab Republic (SAR) have announced mutual recognition and the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries at the embassy level, which reflects their common desire to develop relations in all areas.
Khajimba highly appreciated the gesture of Syria and expressed the hope that peace will soon come to the land of this country, and its citizens will move to a normal life.
On the eve of Damascus recognition of these two states in Russia, a meeting was held between the ambassadors of South Ossetia, Abkhazia and Syria. According to the latest reports, a personal meeting is planned between the presidents of Syria and Abkhazia, Bashar al-Assad and Raul Khadzhimba.
It is quite symbolic that ATS made this important and beautiful gesture exactly May 29. This day is considered important in her stories. In 1945, that day the Syrian parliament refused to bow to the flag of the French colonialists. France threatened to punish those who would try to challenge her will. The garrison of the defenders of the Syrian parliament refused to obey, and then the colonialists actually attacked, defeating the parliament and killing its defenders. In Syria, their names are inscribed on a memorial plaque, and in honor of May 29, the streets of cities are called.
And it was on the anniversary of the day when, in the distant 1945, the Syrians suffered heavy losses in the struggle for freedom, the SAR recognized the republics, which also sacrificed a lot in the struggle for their independence.
And immediately came an angry cry from Washington. State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert said:
We continue to support the sovereignty of Georgia, its independence and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders.
And the European Union, following Washington, hastened to circulate a statement accusing the “Syrian regime” of violating international law and the principle of the territorial integrity of other states.
Of course, Georgia is not satisfied either. Her Foreign Ministry announced that diplomatic relations had been severed from Syria (as was the case with other states that recognized Abkhazia and South Ossetia).
And the funny thing is that another angry response came from Ukraine, which, as always, has a desire to “lick” the owners. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavel Klimkin tweeted that he condemns this step of the “Syrian regime”, remains loyal to “supporting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia” and stands side by side with it.
All of those disgruntled invariably nodded in the direction of Russia - they say, the Syrian leadership (which they consider the regime) is fulfilling the will of Moscow, dancing to its tune. As if the USA “forgot” how themselves, often in a boorish way, impose their will on other countries, and the EU, Georgia and Ukraine are in a hurry to fulfill it, almost ahead of each other. As, in particular, in connection with the Violin case, everyone unanimously danced to the tune of those who planned and carried out this strange provocation.
So far there are few states in the world that dared to recognize the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia. In addition to Syria and Russia, this is Nicaragua, Venezuela, Nauru, Vanuatu and Tuvalu (the latter country subsequently withdrew its recognition for American financial assistance).
Often on this occasion one can hear from the liberals (and simply from misguided citizens) that, they say, only a handful of countries recognized these independent states. And that is not the largest and most influential countries. From this it is concluded that the Russian policy towards Tskhinval and Sukhum was erroneous.
At the same time, for example, the “independent” state of Kosovo was recognized by too many countries, including the United States. The process of entering this state in the world elite continues, despite the obvious evidence that there are outright bandits at its helm who personally tortured people and trafficked human organs.
It must be remembered that the recognition of recognition is different. It is one thing to follow in the wake of the USA and receive various benefits. Or not even get real, but hope for handouts.
Quite another is to swim against the stream. Although in some way the objection of the “monarch's” will of Washington ... As you know, after that sanctions begin to pour into the country, its leadership “suddenly” will be “dictatorial”, export of the “color revolution” may follow, and in the most difficult cases - western aggression.
Therefore, it can be said that the recognition of Kosovo’s independence is a sneaking up and lackeys, and the recognition of Abkhazia and South Ossetia is a courageous step. There are no double standards in this.
