The fire of war? Iranian parliament burns US flag and copy of nuclear agreement

Iranian parliamentarians responded to Trump’s decision to unilaterally withdraw from the so-called nuclear agreement with a campaign to burn the American flag right on the podium. In addition to the US flag printed on paper, Iranian deputies also burned a copy of the very agreement from which Washington came out.


According to parliamentarians, “this paper was originally very expensive, but now it is devalued by the decision of America.”

What kind of agreements with this state can we talk about now, if it itself shows that there are no international rules and regulations for it! The agreement, which has been multilaterally worked out for several years, was simply burned by Trump. And we have no choice but to do the same in response.




Parliamentarians chanted anti-American slogans and trampled on burning papers in the meeting room.

Meanwhile, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani held a telephone conversation with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron. Rouhani statement quotes Iranian news agency IRNA:
Contrary to Trump's views, enrichment (of uranium) in Iran has never been aimed at creating nuclear weaponsas these scientific and technical efforts were aimed at strengthening national pride and the needs of the Iranian people.


According to Rouhani, all these actions, including from the moment of the signing of the agreement, were carried out under the control of the IAEA and had nothing to do with military developments, which they are trying to blame Iran for today.

It is noteworthy that Macron expressed "regret" in connection with the decision of Trump and said that European countries will continue to comply with the agreement with Tehran.
