Is a genetic war on the food front - is it just a myth?
In addition, there is a rather strange tendency. For example, a comparison of the average yield level in a number of countries of the world looks ambiguous, to put it mildly. According to reports from the British statistics last year, the average yield on the British grain fields was such figures that even Rostov and Voronezh farmers could envy: more than 48 centners per hectare! The yield of the French fields is also impressive, being at about the same level. With all due respect to the diligence of the same British farmers, it is hard to believe that the lands of Foggy Albion can produce such crops, from which the bins just pop up at the seams. It turns out that farmers use some innovative methods, if I may say so, in order to increase the grain yield and, as a result, their own profitability.
And these methods are in fact already known. It's all about the wonders of genetic engineering, which literally turns over even the most advanced technology in its time, as Michurin's.
Now the main question for us is: how can the use of genetic engineering in agriculture threaten the health and safety of Russians, and why is this genetic engineering needed at all if there are still quite a large number of undeveloped fertile lands in different countries of the world?
We will understand in order. To begin with, it should be said that in a number of countries, products obtained using genetic modification of plants are exclusively exported. Unconditional leader among the plants in the number of genetically modified variations is soy. In second place is corn. If we take into account that today there are soy additives in almost any “meat” product in Russia, then we can say with confidence that GMOs produced abroad already behave in our country literally prudently. The final price of the product decreases, additional demand appears, there is a kind of “national” advertising company - as a result, everything works so that this product gets its distribution and its regular customer. The saddest thing is that neither genetics, nor nutritionists will say whether the use of genetically modified foods is safe. Implanted genes can behave completely unpredictable.
British scientists have recently conducted a remarkable experiment, of course, on laboratory mice (as they, at least, claim). One group of mice was fed exclusively products with the addition of GMO raw materials. After a short time, the very implanted genes began to actively participate in the functional activity of the organism of animals, leading to severe changes in morphology. It was these experiments that led British lawmakers to obligate all food manufacturers, without exception, to indicate on their products the presence or absence of a specific GMO element. However, these laws operate exclusively in the domestic market. As soon as the same goods are sent abroad, there are no special requirements for products. The main thing - buy and, thereby, bring money to the treasury. In fact, all responsibility for the quality of the purchased products in this case falls not on the manufacturer and the seller, but on the buyer. They say that he bought genetically modified soy himself - and then on himself and blame ... This approach can only be called a frank food war, in which there are soldiers, generals, winners, losers and, naturally, victims. And the number of victims in this strange war is increasing year by year. People manifest such diseases that not only do not respond to treatment, but also prevent the continuation of the species. The number of fixed oncological diseases, the facts of infertility today is growing at a staggering pace. If such diseases are monitored, then the residents of large cities, which (residents) are increasingly forced to eat those products that already by definition include genetically modified compounds, suffer from them. These compounds can affect the reproductive function of male and female organisms, as well as the body’s opposition to negative neoplasms.
It would seem that the genetic war on the food front is just a myth that should not be paid much attention to. However, it must be understood that there are forces in the world that are incredibly profitable for citizens of different countries of the world to think so. In order to understand that the myth is far from here, the following example should be given: in the United States recently, the government authorities rejected a proposal by American environmentalists to ban the spread of such a herbicide as 2,4-D. This chemical compound was once part of the same "orange agent", which the Americans actively used during the Vietnam War. Farmers use this herbicide to kill weeds in their acreage. But, as you know, if weeds are destroyed, then grain crops receive fair portions of the same destroyer. Environmental studies have shown that the "agent" affects the development of cultivated plants and can lead to a complete disruption of their functions during growth. It turns out that American farmers, using 2,4-D, act to their own detriment, killing along with the ubiquitous weeds and wheat. But farmers have taken a different path: they use crops, which American genetics have imparted a special gene to. He "does not notice" 2,4-D. Weeds “notice” it and die, but wheat and other grains do not. In other words, thanks to the proposal of "green", it was revealed that wheat and rye with artificially introduced genes are spiked on numerous US acreage. These grains are exported, saturating the markets of those countries that are not able to provide themselves with bread and other agricultural products. Environmentalists have found that the yield of grain after the processing of the fields by the “agent” is increased by 2,5%, which brings additional profit to farmers and, therefore, to the state.
- The most massively imported corn to us. Today, 16 lines of GM crops, which almost all are banned in most European countries, are officially permitted in Russia. These are 7 corn lines, 3 soybean lines, 4 potato lines, 1 rice line, 1 beet line, and 5 microbial species. Of the 16 lines, the 9 lines are resistant to the herbicide Roundup and glufosinate. It seems to be a few permitted varieties, but they are added to many products. GM components are also found in bakery products, meat and dairy products. There are many of them in baby food, especially for the little ones.
So, the new line of GM maize will not even have to be officially registered, because we have a very bad situation with the work of laboratories for the detection and qualification of transgenic plants. It is more correct to say that we simply have no barrier to identify and remove unresolved crops from the market. So any poison will easily fall into the shops and on the table.
In connection with the entry into the WTO, the turnover of transgenic plants in our country will increase many times.
Who and why is lobbying on the world level these products. I previously wrote that in Norway, the United States many scientists are persecuting for any work in the field of research on the safety of transgenic plants. Until 2010, I was a leading employee at the Institute of Higher Nervous Activity and Neurophysiology of the Russian Academy of Sciences. After a series of my publications on this topic, all my research was covered up, grants were taken away, and they were strongly advised not to talk about the topic at all. But I can not speak, because all this horror will come to the fields, to the shops, will lead to irreversible damage to people's health. This is a real disaster! I do not know how to prevent it, but it is impossible to hush up exactly.
It turns out that, supplying genetically modified agricultural products abroad, many Western countries, as they say, kill two birds with one stone: they increase their own profitability without the need to develop new arable land, and also act as guarantors of global food security, which, due to the above, is completely safe does not even smell.
However, these “fighters of the invisible front”, thinking that they are inflating the whole world, are in fact inflating themselves. Tomorrow, those lands that were treated deadly for plants and, therefore, for people, with a herbicide will be oversaturated with this composition. Soil depletion can reach a level at which no genetic engineering can save. In the end, sooner or later, someone from the "fighters" will have a desire to use the dubious method of extracting super-profits already on their fellow citizens.
In connection with the above, attention can be paid to the so-called humanitarian aid of a number of western states addressed to countries such as the DPRK, Haiti, Sudan, etc. For 10 years (1995-2005), the United States alone supplied more grain to North Korea than in 600 million dollars. It turns out that this service could well be, shall we say, bearish. After all, to prove that the American food did not contain genetically modified components is impossible.
Let us not forget that, against the background of all the scandals with the European missile defense, the American authorities took a rather lively initiative to accept Russia into the WTO. Even Georgia had to take its veto back. Why would such an unexpected movement in the direction of the Russian Federation. Maybe the whole thing is that Russia is going to make another (and by no means small) market for GMO products from American and British fields. I don’t want to escalate the situation, but lately, Russia just doesn’t get anything from the West, so here we have to look for some subtext.
After all, you will agree that it will be very difficult for the domestic producer of the same wheat (pure wheat) to compete with the manufacturer of cheaper genetically modified products, which already feel more than confident in the Russian open spaces. Therefore, the appearance on the shelves of Russian stores of new foreign products at low prices is not a reason to joyfully clap your hands and admire the new realities of joining the WTO.
In conclusion, it should be said that the global food war may soon become much more brutal than today's oil wars, concealed by the banners of democratic revolutions. In this regard, Russia needs to understand that only the development of its own agricultural production can be a guarantee of food security in the future.
