US intends to take control of the Northern Sea Route

64
The other day, the commander of the US Navy Coast Guard has publicly stated that Russia is obliged to open the Northern Sea Route to everyone. So far, Washington is not going to put pressure on Moscow, but over time, when the Arctic becomes even more free from ice, the Americans intend to put the question squarely and ensure freedom of transit along the Northern Sea Route.

By “ensuring freedom”, Americans mean military operations whose goal is to uphold the principles of free navigation, despite the fact that water belongs to one state or another. Something similar we can now observe in the South China Sea, where US Navy destroyers regularly visit to demonstrate their power.

In recent years, our country is rapidly increasing its military potential in the Arctic. New bases are being built, special weapons systems are being created that can operate effectively in low-temperature conditions.

The United States, you don’t need to go to the grandmother, will still raise a heart-rending howl because Russia will not provide them with its icebreakers. You just have to wait a little. And the next circus performance of the United States will not take long.

They will again accuse us of deliberately lowering the temperature and of the special viciousness of the white bears. We’ll have to build taverns all over the Northern Sea Route with nurseries to raise the consciousness of potapycha people. Why not let it in? It is only necessary to train saboteurs so that they regularly push an explosive zapadlo under the screws. let them stand. freeze. So they recently surfaced already, honed launches and what did this lead to? Moreover, if the train belongs to Russia, then the seas inside it are the same, which means that it’s never neutral waters, and here it’s possible to directly declare the military presence of the military on our territory and to hell with everyone entering it.

Lord comrades! Why are you all so indignant at the completely legitimate demand of the US representatives? Indeed, according to all world laws, any ships and warships of the whole world are allowed to freely pass through any straits. And if you all mistakenly think that the Arctic Ocean is only for Russian ships, then this is a universal deep misconception! Of course, you all see the border from the Kola Peninsula to the North Pole, and from Chukotka to the Pole, but in fact this is a hoax! The fact is that this is not at all a state border, as you all think, but this is just the border of economic holdings. That is, inside this vast territory of the Arctic Ocean, foreign vessels are forbidden to fish, drill oil and gas wells, and produce marine animals. But just to walk on these waters for foreign and military courts there is no prohibition. You will recall that during the 2000 exercises when the Kursk died in the area, at least one American nuclear submarine and the Norwegian reconnaissance ship Maryatta freely walked underwater. And they have every right to do so. Unless they violate the Russian state border of our territorial waters a 12-mile zone. But after all, in the same way, all Russian warships and peace ships have every right to approach close to the shores of the United States and Canada, with the exception of the 12-mile strip. But to extract minerals off the coast of the United States and Canada, like any other country in the world, Russian vessels do not have the right within a 200-mile offshore zone. So American warships and peaceful ships, if they want, can freely pass along our Northern Sea Route. But the rule is exactly the same, that Russian warships and vessels have every right to go along the coast of Canada, only without violating the 12-mile border. But of course everyone understands that this is nonsense - because off the coast of Canada there is such thick ice that even the most powerful atomic icebreakers will probably not be able to get there.
Of course, I understand that there will now be wild accusations of selling the Motherland against me, but in fact there is a most important circumstance: although American ships have the right to pass along the Northern Sea Route, but Russia is not at all obligated to provide them with funds for this! I.e Russia is under no obligation to provide nuclear-powered icebreakers or tugboats for piloting foreign ships - unless she herself wants to do it by appropriate agreement and for a large fee. But if American or other foreign ships want to independently navigate the Northern Sea Route (in most of the way it is free from ice except for the most difficult sections in summer), then if these foreign ships get stuck in ice, then Russia must provide them with rescue vessels, i.e. icebreakers, by sea. however, in accordance with the law of the sea for the salvage of a foreign ship in Russia, a premium of half the value of a warship or a peaceful ship wrecked in ice.
