The FSB office in the Sverdlovsk region, together with representatives of the FSB department for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, conducted an operation that prevented the transfer of secret military maps to representatives of a foreign state. The press service of the ministry says that, in particular, we are talking about topographic secret data.
TASS cites the statement of the representative of the press service:
The activities of a group of persons involved in the illegal collection for the subsequent transfer of secret military topographic materials to a foreign party were stopped. Thus, at the same time operational and investigative measures were taken at the places of residence of three Russian citizens and a citizen of Ukraine in the cities of Yekaterinburg, Simferopol and Omsk, during which electronic and paper copies of secret topographic maps of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation were found and seized.
It was noted that earlier one of the detainees had already been prosecuted for committing a crime under the article of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Treason”.
The FSB department in the Sverdlovsk region says that the detainees were “officially warned” about the inadmissibility of actions related to the threat to the security of the Russian Federation.
Particularly noteworthy is the following phrase:
All the detainees acknowledged that by their actions they created a threat to the security of the Russian Federation and refused to commit such acts in the future.
And the one who was already serving a sentence for state treason?
From where the detainees had secret topographic maps of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, the material of the department is not reported.
