Attacking "Petrel"
The patrol ships of the 1135 ("Petrel") offshore zone in stories Russian fleet occupy a special place. Differing from their predecessors not only in their elegant appearance, but also in their weapon systems and means for detecting enemy submarines, advanced energy and a high level of automation, these ships brought the country's long-range anti-submarine defense to a qualitatively new level. The successful design provided them with a long active service at all the sea and ocean theaters, their capabilities have not been exhausted to this day. Possessing modern missile, anti-aircraft, torpedo and artillery weapons, project 1135 TFRs became multifunctional, the most popular and beloved among naval sailors. It is no coincidence that they were released by the largest series.
The newest frigates of the Indian Navy of the Talwar type, which are rightfully considered to be among the most advanced in the world, are a profound modernization of the very same “Petrel” created by Soviet ships in the 70s.
The 1135 “Petrel” project appeared as if at the crossroads of two directions in the evolution of our fleet's anti-submarine ships — small (159 and 35 projects) and large (61 project). At that time, the Soviet Navy went out into the world ocean, and its main task was to fight nuclear submarines of a potential enemy. It was then that the first anti-submarine ships of the ocean zone were created - the 1123 cruiser-helicopter carriers, the 1 BOD of the 1134A and 1134B projects, the 2 BOD of the 61 project, which showed themselves from the best side. But their high cost forced the fleet management to supplement the arsenal of anti-submarine forces with a smaller displacement and less expensive ships of the near zone, which are also capable of operating in remote areas of the ocean, along with cruisers and BOD.
The main task of the patrol ships is the destruction of enemy ships and submarines and the provision of anti-submarine, anti-aircraft and anti-ship defense of the connections of ships and ships.

In 1983-1984, the patrol ship “Zharky” was upgraded according to the 11353 project at the plant. A.A. Zhdanov with the placement of the new SJSC "Zvezda-MG" for testing. Moreover, its standard displacement has increased by more than 350 tons.
In 1983, the 11352 project was developed and placed on the ships of the SCRC “Uranus”. However, its implementation due to delays in the creation of a new generation of tactical anti-ship missiles was delayed until the start of the 1990-s. Before the collapse of the USSR and the landslide reduction of the Navy, only two ships were modernized: the Leningrad Komsomol member and the Pylky. On them, the place of the removed RBU-6000 was installed in two quadruple launchers of the Uran missile, Frigate MA was installed instead of the Angara radar, and Titan 2 was installed instead of the Titan-2 GAS. True, the upgraded ships sailed without PKR due to their unavailability (in the west they were called “Modified Krivak-I class”).
