The United States sent to Europe "Avengers"

73
The US Department of Defense sent the first batch of self-propelled short-range anti-aircraft missile systems Avenger AN / TWQ-1 (Avenger) to Europe, reports "Warspot" with reference to the portal armyrecognition.com.

The United States sent to Europe "Avengers"

Air defense systems Avenger AN / TWQ-1 were developed in 80-s and represent the army off-road vehicle HMMWV in the pick-up version, in the back of which is located a turntable with a mounted anti-aircraft missile system consisting of two launchers, totaling eight FIM- missiles 92 Stinger. Recently, the complex is almost never used by the American army. Combat vehicles for Europe were removed from storage in one of the military units in Pennsylvania, where they were awaiting disposal.

To modernize the complexes in 2017, the US Army successfully tested a new version of the Stinger MANPADS with a proximity fuse. During the tests, the military launched two Stinger missiles from the M1097 Avenger drones-MQM-170C Outlaw targets and successfully hit them.

The European Command of the American Army, EUCOM (United States European Command), requested the Avenger 72. The first batch in the number of 36 machines has already gone to Europe, the second completes the passage of the re-entry and modernization.

. Here the situation is different. Generally different. When the partisans in the mountains. From the shoulder they shot this one. And then pack those same stingers in the mountains and it would be just a gift for our Air Force. What can you say about all this in modern realities? Yes, it’s just that our armies have different tasks. They keep their troops at all costs. We do. (See my comment below)

laughing in vain. How is the Avanter fundamentally different from our Bending or Pine? Yes, nothing - the same MANPADS on a mobile chassis. Before starting, the machine does not detect itself (the radar does not have anything), and there will be a lot of problems for attack aircraft, turntables and UAVs. Mobile chassis - the ability to quickly change position. The thing, though not ultramodern, but no less dangerous. In addition, the missiles themselves are far from obsolete versions.

In vain you laugh. Any transfer of enemy weapons to our borders, especially in the quantities of tens of units, is not good.
And the installation itself is an analog of our Bending-S, which is only being adopted for service. She does not fight with small drones due to the fact that she works on optical and thermal imaging channels, but front-line aviation can create a lot of problems. Moreover, since there is no radar from it, no stealth technology and electronic warfare do not interfere with it.
If obsolete missiles were replaced in it, then the thing is dangerous.

I look there, under the hood, each basin has basins, .... does the oil leak from the engine?

Technique with conservation. For a long downtime, engine oil partially loses its properties. As a result, it is recommended to change the oil in order to increase engine life. In the process of changing the oil, the oil filter always changes, and oil inevitably flows from the filter. In order not to stain the site, they put a pan under the filter ... As I understand it, you do not have your own car.

    Read TTX FIM-92 Stinger:

A feature of FIM-92 is the thermal imaging seeker. The missile was developed for use in the Avenger air defense system. I do not know that this version of the Stinger was released in the MANPADS version ...

This refers to the IR GOS, the translation is incorrect

    Read TTX FIM-92 Stinger:
    Maximum range: 4,8 - 8 km .:
    Maximum target height: 3,8 km;
    Maximum / average speed: 750/700 m / s (2,2 / 2,06)

Wrong TTX from you. If you take it from Wikipedia, then there is an incorrect translation. In reality, TTX is more modest. Range 4 km, height 3.
Those who translated had a level of knowledge of the English language of elementary school, plus complete ignorance of military terminology. Rank means the range of application, not the range. Roughly speaking, the diameter of the circle in which you can hit the target.
Here is part of the original:
