Russia launches "Boomerang"

The Boomerangs were first shown to the general public at the anniversary Victory Parade in 2015. Together with other novelties of the domestic defense industry - a tank T-14, BMP T-15, self-propelled guns "Coalition-SV", as well as armored vehicles based on the platform "Kurganets-25" - they made a splash around the world.

Many people call the Boomerang an armored personnel carrier. This is not true. The military-industrial complex-7829 "Boomerang" is a new unified wheeled platform, on the basis of which the K-16 armored personnel carrier and the K-17 infantry fighting vehicle have already been launched. The main difference lies in the combat modules installed on the machines.

The BMP K-17 is equipped with the Boomerang-BM unmanned remote combat module. He is also equipped with a heavy BMP T-15 based on "Armata", as well as BMP B-11 based on "Kurgants-25". The module consists of an 30-2 42 gun and four anti-tank missiles.

The K-16 BTR has a smaller combat module. Supposedly, it will be equipped with an 7,62-mm Kalashnikov PKTM machine gun.

In the latest version, the K-17 was equipped with the Berezhok manned combat module B05Y01 developed by JSC Instrument Design Bureau. The Boomerang-BM module can be forgotten for a long time. At least for this type of combat vehicles.

What stupidity: armored personnel carriers and infantry fighting vehicles differ in armaments .... It was better for the author to freeze. APCs and BMPs in the first place, differ in the PURPOSE! And, already from here, all other differences follow: armor, weapons, mobility. While our designers and, most importantly, the generals are not aware of this, there will be no order in the tank troops. And as for the “boomerang” in hypostases, the machine is too complex to be massive. Most likely, this device will be adopted by a pair of guard divisions. Maybe by the age of 25. The rest will be cut in the old days at eighty and adapt the log protection to the Urals-KAMAZ
