Russian President Vladimir Putin has expanded the powers of the Federal Guard Service, including in their number participation in information confrontation activities and the fight against cyber attacks. The corresponding decree of the head of state is published on official portal legal information.
According to the new version of the Federal Security Service Regulations, the service will "participate, within its competence, in implementing state policy in the field of international information security and conducting activities on information confrontation, detection, prevention and elimination of the consequences of computer attacks on information resources of the Russian Federation"
The service will also deal with "ensuring the protection of personal data of state security objects and their family members." The powers of the FSO include giving consent to the processing of personal data of protected persons and their family members, with the exception of information subject to official publication or disclosure. In addition, the FSO is authorized to determine the list of things or goods that are prohibited to be carried and transported to protected objects.
Introduce the following changes to the provision on the Federal Guard Service of Russia ... paragraph 4, add the following subsection 9: ensuring the protection of personal data of state security objects and their family members
