Poland expects to sign a contract to buy Patriot missile defense systems in the United States in the first quarter of 2018, Mariusz Blaszczak, the Minister of National Defense, said on Polish radio.

At the beginning of July 2017, the Polish Ministry of National Defense and the United States Department of Defense signed an agreement to supply the Patriot complexes to Warsaw. The signing of the document took place during the visit of US President Donald Trump to Warsaw. The document states that the systems will be transferred to Poland before 2022. It is planned that at the first stage - in 2021 – 2022 - two Patriot batteries with PAC-3 MSE missiles and IBCS control and communication system elements will be delivered to Poland.
