Tu-334 is a regional passenger aircraft developed at the Tupolev Design Bureau in 90 of the last century. But the case was started at the end of 80, when the flagship model of the design bureau Tu-204 was preparing for the beginning of the tests.
The concept of nepotism of liners prevailed, and the future regional liner was considered as a minor modification of the Tu-204. The proximity of the design and a large number of common elements should have simplified both the creation of the machine and the cheapening of its production and operation.
The dashing 90 came, and the aircraft design "got up". Only at the dawn of a new century, the prototype Tu-334 made its first test flight. But the fate of the liner was far from as bright as that of his older brothers, whom he had to replace. In a contest announced by the government of the Russian Federation, Sukhoi won the SSJ 100 project, despite the absence of an aircraft "in the gland."
