US soldiers were photographed with parts of the bodies of suicide bombers
In the United States of America, a new scandal is gathering momentum around the inappropriate behavior of the US military in Afghanistan. The Los Angeles Times has published photographs in which American soldiers pose with parts of the Taliban suicide bombers.
18 images got into the newspaper thanks to the American paratrooper from the 82 airborne division. Two years ago, some colleagues from his platoon were sent with Afghan police to identify the militants who blew themselves up.
Condemnation of this act has already been made by US President Barack Obama. According to White House press secretary Jay Carney, the American president was informed about the publication of these photos in the Los Angeles Times.
As Carney noted, Barack Obama, of course, agrees with the opinion of US Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta that an incident must be investigated in this incident, and it will definitely be carried out, and those responsible will be brought to justice.
Following Panetta and the leaders of the Pentagon, the American leader called this behavior of the military, which are depicted in the photos, “condemnable”, adding that in no way is it a reflection of the values of the US armed forces.
At the same time, Carney added that the White House is “extremely” disappointed that the Los Angeles Times decided to publish these photos taken two years ago.
Earlier, the Pentagon leadership called the "inhuman" behavior of the US military in Afghanistan, who posed in the pictures with parts of the Taliban's bodies.
The newspaper published these pictures, despite the fact that the US military asked not to do this.
According to George Little, Pentagon press secretary, Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta condemns the behavior of American soldiers, which are captured in these photos taken two years ago.
Little emphasized that an investigation is underway, those responsible for this inhuman behavior will be punished according to the military legal system.
According to the representative of the Pentagon, the Minister of Defense is also disappointed that the pictures were published, despite the request not to do so. He believes that the danger of these images is that they can be used by the enemy to provoke violence against US soldiers and Afghan security forces.
In 2012, several scandals have already occurred that have been associated with the behavior of the US military in Afghanistan. In January of this year, a video was posted on the Internet in which US marines desecrated the bodies of the murdered Taliban. In February, about 60-70 Islamic religious books, including the Koran, were burned at the Bagram airbase.
