In the Syrian conflict, since 2011, tanks have been actively used by all parties. Overwhelmingly, these are machines made in the USSR and modern Russia. Before the war, the Syrian army was six tank divisions. The most modern versions of combat vehicles got the Republican Guard.
On 2010, the Syrian Armed Forces deployed thousands of tanks to the 2,5. Nearly half of them were old T-55, about another 500 units - T-62 tanks. The most modern were the Ural T-72 in the amount of about 700 pieces.
In the "bins" there were about a thousand T-54 tanks of various modifications. All of them were deprecated with the beginning of the conflict.
