After the tests of the modernization of the Agni-I ballistic missile carried out by India, the Indian media, citing military sources, reported on a new test. This time another ballistic missile was tested - Prithvi-II of the DRDO developer. Testing was carried out using a mobile launcher at the Chandipur test site.
It is reported that, after upgrading, the Prithvi-II missile is capable of carrying a payload, including a nuclear warhead, from 500 to 1000. At the same time, the range of such a rocket is declared as 350 km.
The control commission of the Ministry of Defense of India, which monitored the test, recognized it as successful. This is reported today The Times of India.
It is noted that the test target was successfully hit by a missile within the stated range.
The developers claim that after the upgrade, the Prithvi-II uses an advanced guidance system, which allows to increase accuracy while hitting the target.
For reference: the Prithvi-II family of Indian missiles is a liquid-fuel one. The first launch of the Prithvi-II Indian rocket was launched in January 1996. Prior to modernization, the declared characteristics were described as follows: radius of action — up to 250 km, payload mass — no more than 750 kg with a launch mass of 4,6 tons. The launcher was located on the Tatra chassis (88).
