The Turkish armed forces, supported by detachments of the Free Syrian Army, with a numerical superiority over the Kurdish formations, took several settlements in the Syrian canton of Afrin. According to Turkish media, the army managed to eliminate a total of almost 560 Kurdish fighters.

Despite the local successes of the Turkish army and the SSA, in most sectors of the front, the Kurds manage to restrain the onslaught of the enemy. According to the pro-Kurdish news agencies, in the course of repelling the attack, female suicide bombers were first involved. One of them self-blew up, destroying the Turkish Leopard tank.

In response to this, Turkish President Recep Erdogan threatened the Kurds with a “full sweep” and also expressed his readiness to “reach the administrative center of the Idlib province”. Given the fact that this entire territory is under the control of the Allied SSA, such actions of the Turks should be regarded as hostile towards the Syrian army.
