Project 22160: what can a new special-purpose ship of the Russian Navy
37
2009, Indian Ocean, Gulf of Aden. Sailors of the cruiser "Peter the Great" are detaining three boats of Somali pirates on the high seas. They found automata, grenade launchers, boarding hooks. The pirates were obviously looking for a new victim, but stumbled upon the Russian marines. Our sailors disarmed the brave corsairs and sent them ashore.
A year later, our fleet and pirates of the XXI century meet again. This time the bandits raid the tanker Moscow University and demand a ransom. However, instead of money, the Russian side still sends to the pirates of the marines who are on board the large anti-submarine ship Marshal Shaposhnikov.
Special forces take the captured tanker by storm in 22 minutes. Everything seems to be fine and the victory is ours, but any specialist will say: it is unreasonable to use cruiser and BOD ships against the gang of raiders. And on navy make a decision - to create a new ship specifically designed to solve such problems. So the patrol corvette of project 22160 appears.
