But let's start with another plane. In 1952, the first flight was made by a new Tu-16 bomber. At that time, it was a real breakthrough in the military aircraft industry. Almost immediately after the creation of the bomber, Tupolev people thought about the civilian version of the aircraft. So the opportunity to create the first in stories country passenger jet liner.

In the summer of 1954, the USSR government issued a decree on the creation of a fundamentally new civilian vessel, and within a year the first prototype made its first flight. A year later, the novelty of the Soviet aircraft industry went on regular flights.

In total, slightly more than 200 units of Tu-104 were built. The emergence of a large number of jet liners contributed to the modernization of airports throughout the Soviet Union.
