Yuri Vitrenko, the commercial director of Naftogaz, said that now Ukraine had the opportunity to purchase gas from Russia “without overpayments”. This statement was made against the background of gas purchases by Kiev through the so-called reverse route, which automatically led to an overpayment of approximately 15% of the cost.
Recall that the Stockholm arbitration ordered Ukraine to resume gas purchases from Gazprom (as part of the contract) and to pay about 2 billion dollars.
Vitrenko on the air of the Gromadska shopping center:
If we buy this gas from Slovakia, Poland or Hungary, then the market price of gas from Slovakia includes the appropriate cost of transportation from the German liquidity hub market. This price in Slovakia is slightly higher than the price in Germany. Now we have the opportunity to buy gas in Russia at a price slightly lower.
Further Vitrenko adds:
A separate question is whether we will buy or not, because besides the price there are other aspects, we all understand, politics, war.
