The Russian version of the American carbine Colt M4 - a carbine for hunting the Vepr-15
At the Moscow International Exhibition in Gostiny Dvor weapons for hunting "Arms & Hunting" in mid-October 2011 a very curious hunting carbine made by Kirov gunsmiths - "Vepr-15" was presented. The weapon is made on the basis of one of the trophies of August 2008 - the American Colt M-4 carbine. The M-4 and with it the M-16 are based on the well-known AR-15 rifle. By the way, the numeral designation 15 for the Russian boar is the domestic analogue of the numeric designation AR-15. Another name for the carbine is VPO-140. According to the developers, the weapon was supposed to be on sale by the end of 2011, but so far we have not heard about the implementation of the carbine. The approximate cost of the original carbine on the domestic market should be about 60000 rubles.
The mass production of this carbine by OJSC Molot is going to be carried out in cooperation with foreign manufacturers, and although the plant’s website does not mention the start of the Vepr-15 hunting weapons, the project has already been implemented. This is the first domestic model of weapons created using the Yu.Stonera system. For many fans of hunting and this type of weapon in our country it is a real gift, because the Vepr-15 will be assembled in a domestic plant using some of the details that will be provided by a foreign manufacturer. Components will be provided by the German company "Waffen Schumacher GmbH" - the brand "Schmeisser". The chrome-plated barrel, having the .223Rem caliber, for the Vepr-15 carbine will be manufactured at OJSC Molot plant, and will be used for the final assembly of the carbine. The ammunition for the Vepr-15 self-loading carbine got from the base model - the cartridge of the American AR-15 5.56x45 or .223 Rem family. According to the plans of manufacturers of a hunting carbine, with the demand for weapons, production will be localized, which will reduce the final cost of the Vepr-15. In the future, it is possible to release a carbine under a different caliber, possibly under the 6.5 Grendel or 7.62x39.
Device and design of Vepr-15
The trunk box consists of the lower and upper parts, connected with 2-x cross-section pins, swiveling front pin, dismountable rear pin. To disassemble the carabiner, the disassembly pin must be squeezed out from left to right using any available object. The automatics of the new carbine will work according to the scheme of sampling a certain part of the powder gases from the barrel to the inside of the barrel box, using the hole in the barrel through the gas tube. The barrel is locked by turning the bolt. The cocking handle has a T-shaped design and is located at the end of the barrel box above the butt, remains in place during firing. On the right side of the trunk box, a bolt rammer is made; it can be used to manually close the bolt if suddenly there was not enough effort for this return spring. The window of ejection of the spent cartridges is closed by a dustproof, spring-loaded shutter - when it closes, it opens automatically.
The mechanism of trigger and trigger 1-th action of the hammer type. The firing of the Vepr-15 carbine is carried out only in the mode of single shots. Sighting devices - height-adjustable front sight, made on the basis of the gas chamber and diopter rear sight, made on the handle for marching the carabiner. The handle itself is similar to the handle "Colt M4A1", that is, a removable type. This will allow to install on the trunk box sights of the collimator type “EOTech” and “Aimpoint” or optical sights with a small magnification “ACOG” and “ACOG”. To install them there is a guide type "Picatinny rail". Opikatinnoe forearm, pistol grip and butt are made of impact-resistant plastics. Retractable stock is adjustable in length. Meals are fed by their 2-row box stores.
